IO - SANDY (Ore ) POST Thur» . Oct 14 I W (Sec 1) Motives of planning department questioned by MICHAEL P. JONES Putt I I orropondenl The Clackamas County planning department has reduced the size of the wetlands that occupy a por tion of the land slated for a 347 unit subdivision near B rightw ood known as Brightwood Glen A hearing will be held O ct. 20 b e fo re the Clackamas County Board of County Commissioners at 9 a m at the Courthouse Annex in Oregon City for a conditional use permit Speaking before the Mt Hood C orrid o r Citizen Planning Organization this past summer, represen tatives for the Salem based Real Estate Loan Fund (R E L F i, the developers of the proposed project, an nounced the county plann my staff has reduced the site's wetland area from 19 acres down to nine acres Martin Boatwright, of Boatwright Engineering Inc and fo rm e rly an engineer for the city of San dy, and Jeffrey R Tross, land planning and develop ment consultant, explained that the original acreage d e s ig n a te d as being wetlands was questionable T h e y m a in ta in the cntena employed by the planning staff to identify wetlands were too general when the area was inven toried As a result, a large Amount of land where con dominium units were to be c o nstru cted was in designated wetland areas S till reco g nized as wetlands are two areas, considerably smaller in size, that are within the development site The first area is located on the northeastern boun dary of the development, and is located near the vicinity of Miller Road and Highway 26 Comprising roughly four acres, this Eagle Creek man completes training Airman James L. Now that the plan has been revised, and it’s too late for further public com ment, they've changed the wetland designations for Brightwood Glen "It's a typical insult and affront by the county government of goal one (citizen input) violations," said Leslie Leslie also charged that the planning staff's new wetland designation for the Brightwood Glen area was done with the assistance of a consultant, Ken Bierly, who works lo r the developers This was acknowledged in a July 13 Sandy man awarded $1,000 scholarship John Stroup, an elec tronics engineering major at the Oregon Institute of Technology, was awarded a 81,000 scholarship from the Boeing Company for the 1982 83 year Stroup, a 1980 Sandy U nion H igh School graduate, is the son of Mr and Mrs Michael I.
