" I want to carry on with the Bi ble being applied to daily living,” he said. ‘‘The more I was able to carry that on, I found that people are interested in that." Vogel, 36, will preach his first sermon this Sunday at the 11 a m service on "God's Plan for Our Church " A potluck will follow the service The day will conclude with a 6 p m. service and visit from Dr Larry McCracken, director of the Conservative Baptist Churches of Oregon. Sandy Baptist Church is located at 34495 SE Jarl Rd The new pastor is busy now get ting acquainted with members of his new church and the communi ty He plans to speak with local ser vice groups to get a grip on the pulse of Sandy. " I really want to get acquainted, not only at the church, but I really want to get acquainted with all the people in town First of all I want to find out where I am ," he said Vogel replaces pastor Ed Grable, who served in Sandy for a dozen years, and brings with him a commitment to fam ily oriented service "In the past I've had a strong emphasis on family-type seminars like marriage enrichment," he said. "M y wife, Mary, has con ducted seminars for the women on being a woman, wife and mother "W e'll have things like that definitely," he added. "We want to have that emphasis." Weather permitting, the Sandy Senior Center will host a picnic tomorrow.
