K e e le y , a Beavercreek farm er and civil engineering instructor at Mt Hood Community College, is running on the D e m o c ra tic tic k e t for C la c k a m a s C ounty Surveyor Keeley, who worked as county engineer from 1956 to i960 and as the county To aid Meadow, Henry Creeks STEP program to be discussed T he R h o do den dron Neighborhood Group will hold a public meeting Saturday, May 15. at 2 p m to discuss the Salmon, Trout Enhancement Pro^ g ram «S T E P ) w ith a representative from the Department of Fish and Wildlife Beth Baker, secretary of the RNG, said the meeting will deal with various ways the STEP program will help to im p ro v e fish passage and enhancement in Henry and Meadow Creeks Recently Jay Massey, a fish biologist with the department s Clackamas County office, conducted a survey of the two streams and identified an ill-placed c u lv e r t , w hich runs underneath Henry Creek Avenue, as being a major obstacle for fish attemp ting to swim upstream to spawn sw iftly moving waters flo w in g th ro u g h the culvert In addition a number of log jams and an old dam would have to be removed in order to insure fish passage during periods of low flow. Baker said that the d e p a r t m e n t ’s STEP representative will discuss improving the stream as well as artificially planting eggs in the creeks in an at tempt to increase produc tivity The meeting will be held at Baker's residence at the end of Littlebrook Avenue in Rhododendron For further information concerning the meeting call 622-4678 surveyor from 1958 to 1966. said he retired from public service because of his frustration with govern ment leaders For the past 10 years Keeley has taught at MHCC. Gage said he will pursue a policy to have survey information readily a v a ila b le and w ill cooperate for the public benefit “ This c re a te d ," said Keeley, “a number of pro blems and a lot more litiga tion ’’ Two Republican can didates are also in the race. Loyd R G re e n , of Gladstone, is a surveyor and inspector for River wood Investment. M a r tin A G ag e, a registered professional land surveyor from Oregon City, is also running as a Democratic for surveyor, G ag e's previous e x perience includes working as a land surveyor for the county's Department of Environmental Services, a surveyor for the county s u rv e y o r, as w ell as surveying for a number of private firms G re e n ’s occupational background includes work ing for the county in land and road surveying, and design and inspection He has 14 years ex perience with the county in cluding two and a half years as acting director of the data processing depart ment. and five months as deputy county surveyor.
