Parents are asked to arrive about 7:10 p.m in order to pick up their student's schedule which they will then follow throughout the evening A special program will be featured at 8: I f p n and refreshments will be served. Some students will make class presenta tions while others will work on projects dur ing the parent visitation persons a tte n d e d the c e re m o n y , in c lu d in g c h u rc h m e m b e rs and friends from the Sandy area Clark commended M a r quardt for significant con tributions to the quality of life in Sandy through a wide range of activities which she helps coordinate Among them, he said, were programs designed to help senior citizens, such as the Loaves and Fishes meals provided at the Senior Center each weekday, and a re a w id e e m e rg e n c y relief planning Marquardt's work brings her together often with the Adventist church The con gregation conducts a conti nuing program of welfare services for needy persons, and often those who come seeking assistance are referred to the church by the city The church’s community services center, located on the north side of the in tersection of Highway 26 and University Avenue, recently was designated as the community's central emergency shelter for use in time of natural disaster or at times when people are evacuated and stranded and in need of food, clothing and shelter. M ar quardt is the coordinator of the city program The church has been a Baptists cite 42nd anniversary It was a busy day at O rie n t D r iv e B a p tis t Church April 25 when ac tivities celebrated the 42nd anniversary of the church. A small group of people meeting in the Grange Hall in Sandy (now the site of Williams Thriftw ay) m ark ed the beginning of Orient Drive Baptist Church. At that time it was known as First Baptist Church of Sandy After several moves and a couple of name changes, the church purchased pro perty located at its present location, 15150 SE Orient Drive, two and a half miles from Sandy The 42nd anniversary ac tivities began with Herbert V Hollinger, editor of the Northwest Baptist Witness, as guest speaker for the 11 a m worship service. Several former pastors were on hand for the an niversary services and took part in the program. They included Fred King, now in Beaverton; Orlin Allen, now in Portland; Jim Gantenbein, now in Port Orchard, Wash., and Ken Cook, now in Estacada The c u rren t pastor is Ted Davis of San dy Music plays a big role in the worship services at O rie n t D r iv e B a p tis t Church and the celebration was no exception. Doug C a s tle , m usic director, led the congrega tional singing and choir presentations The church history was read by Emma Dee Castle whose fam ily is longtime members of the church. The only charter members present was Sylvia Guthu of Sandy.
