Sandy Union High School students had several good finishes at a regional voca tional education skills con test held on the Clackamas Community College cam pus, Nine county high schools competed in the contest last week Tod Simpkins and Mike Neimeyer lied (or second out of 18 contestants <two from each school) in arc welding In gas welding, SUHS finished third, with T J Letchinsky taking third place individual honors Hon Cook also competed for Sandy, and apparently finished well as evidenced by Sandy's high team finish Not all results were a v a ila b le im m e d ia te ly after the contest Fourteen competed in the machine tool division, with SUHS taking third Machine tool included the use of a drill press, ver- ticle milling machine, lathe and tool grinder A g ain , fin a l results w ere n ’t a v a ila b le , but about Don Casey and Chuck E llis , Lynn Sondenaa said, “They had to have done pretty darn well to have bagged third for the school ” M id i p h o to Those participating in the regional skills contest included, from left I«» right.
