They made their home in Sandy where Mrs Alt w orked at C lac ka m as County Bank Her career at the hank led to her serving as president of the hank, at which time she was one of the s m a ll n u m b er of women holding such a po^ tion in the United States Besides her work, Mrs Alt and her husband en joyed the mountains and Eugenia Alt, longtime Sandy resident and past president of the Clackamas County Bank, died in Gresham Tuesday. She was 79. Born Eugenia H Proctor on Dec 21, 1902 in Cottrell, she atte n d ed C o ttre ll Elem entary School and Gresham High School After finishing high school, she g ra d u a te d fro m Behnke Walker Business ( ollege Joyce Grokett longtime Sandy resident Howard Kenneth Eliason were held Jan 29 in the L it tle Chapel of the Chimes in Gresham, He died Jan 25 in a Portland hospital He was 78 Born Dct. 6. 1903 in Montevido. Minn,, he mov ed to North Dakota where he attended school. He married his wife, Eunice, in 1925 in Heedinger, N D. She died in 1971 He farmed in North Dakota until 1936 when the family moved to the Sandy area While in Oregon M r. Eliason was a lumberman and logger He attended Sandy P re s b y te ria n Church and was a member of the Sandy Lions Club His hobbies were hunting and fishing He is survived by two so"», Duane of Crestview, F' , and Daryle of Boring, two daughters. Bernadine Gunderson and JoAnn Tuma, both of Portland, tw o b ro th e rs , C o rliss Willett of Portland and Cleon Willett of Bowman, S.D.; 13 grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren Interment was at F ir Hill Cemetery in Sandy. Funeral services for Joyce Grokett were held Jan 29 in the chapel of San dy Funeral Home Inter ment was at Willamette N a tio n al C em etery in Portland Mrs Grokett, who with her husband, owned and operated Grokett Jewelry in Sandy, died in a Portland hospital Jan. 26 She was 52 Born April 1, 1929 in Min neapolis. Minn . her family moved to Bend when she was six months old She a t tended Oregon College of Education in Monmouth before going to work in a retail store in Salem She married Robert Grokett on Sept 9, 1950 in Bend The following year, the Groketts moved to Sandy where they purchased the local jewelry store She was an active member of the bible Missionary Bap tist Church in Portland She is survived by her husband, Robert; son, Greg Grokett of Sandy. sister, Evelyn Sampels of Bend, and two brothers, Raymond Schwab in New Mexico and Lee Schwab of Prineville. A "come and go celebra tion" for Catherine Fox on the completion of this pro ject will be held at the San dy Church of Christ base ment this Sunday. The Sdfndy Post the time they spent at their cabin Following her husband's death in 1958, she remained active in her work She retired as bank president in 1974 She served on the board of directors until 1978 She uas a member of the Sandy Kebekah Lodge and the O regon B a n k e rs Association She is survived by her sister, Pearl Proctor of John Day, and many nieces and nephews Childers were held Monday evening at Sandy Funeral Home Mr Childers died in a Gresham nursing home on Jan 31 He was 81 Born May 5, 1900 in Buf falo, Kan . he was raised in Kansas where he com pleted his education He married Mary Hut chinson in Mississippi in 1917 They lived in Kansas where he worked in the oil fields They moved to California in 1939 where he did foundry work until his retirement in 1964 The moved to Oregon in 1969 and lived in Sandy the past three years He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons. Jess of Newport, Lloyd in Califor nia Frank of Gold Beach and Russell of sister.
