Feb 10, at 7 a m in the Town and Gown room at Mt. Hood Community College The event is sponsored by MHCC and the Gresham Area Chamber of Com merce The main points that will be covered in the seminar include the psychology of buying and selling, how to value assets, the formula for calculating the value of the business's good will, A Portland insurance agent who resides in Bor mg has purchased Sandy Insurance Agency on Proc tor Boulevard from Bob Pike New owner Gene Smith has operated New Oregon Agencies Inc of Portland 11 years He says eventual plans are to combine both businesses under the um brella of Sandy Insurance here "Sandy In s u ra n c e always will be the front name,” said the 13-year Boring resident “ I think it’s important to the com munity and to the agency. It has quite a history, you know,” he said of the 30-year Sandy agency sta rte d by C lackam as County Bank. Most of Smith's tune now is spent fa m ilia r iz in g himself with Sandy ac counts, while wife Barbara continues to run the Portland agency. Gene Smith said he'll operate Sandy Insurance with a staff of three, com- pared to his Portland agen cy's staff of two. Smith said he plans to become active in Sandy Chamber of Commerce and other civic affairs His office hours are 8:30 a m until 5 p.m. weekdays. THE SABBATH Staff photo Shirley Daeber has opened a bookstore in Sandy next to Accent Hair on Proctor Boulevard. The Book Place carries best sellers, a self-help section for home and car maintenance, a science-fiction corner and extensive children’s selections. She operates another Book Place in Welches where she said many Sandy residents visited, urging her to open a second store here. This is the only bookstore in Sandy, since an earlier book- exchange shop and another religious bookstore closed. Senior Center News y The Sabbath identified by miracles Ex. 16: ,8-20 The account given in Exodus ,6 clearly re veals the jealous care God has had for His Sabbath. He draws a distinct line between the seventh day and the six working days. The Lord wrought a threefold miracle each week (1) Ruined double quantity of manna on the sixth day, (2) Preserved it so that it would keep over the Sabbath. (3) Manna was not given on the Sabbath day. This continued for forty years. Certoinly there could be no question in the minds of those people as to identity of the seventh day. This event took place some fifteen hundred years before Christ’s day. The Sabbath was preserved by the Jewish nation, although at intervals the lord punished them for not observing it in the proper way. Giaietti Documentary traces wildlife habitat A film , " H a b it a t —A Special Place,” will be shown today at 1 p m. at the Sandy Senior Center The documentary motion picture, which follows the Loaves and Fishes meal, presents an inxlepth look at the ever-changing relation ship between wildlife and its environment. New born men do not keep the Sabbath in order to earn salvation but because they are saved by Christ s grace. Postmaster Arnold Becker said that the Postal Service has three different sites which it is consider ing for the location of the new facility.
