Ad mimstrator of the Summer Home Program for the Zigzag Ranger D istrict, said that the recent shots fire d in the tow n of Rhododendron (which ac tually turned out to be firew orks), would be a violation if they were fired around a summer home that was leased from the Federal Government M arvin said that the D istrict currently has 575 homes that are leased out to individuals around the Rhododendron area The leases were formerly for 99 years, but are now five years with an option of renewing them for five ad ditional years, if the terms of the lease a re not violated The discharging of any firearm for any reason, in cluding for target practice, would be in direct viola tion. In addition to the sum m e r hom e a re a , the discharging of a firearm in or within 150 yards of any b u ild in g , cam p g ro un d , s h e lte r o r deve lop e d recreation site such as a ski, sledding or picnic area, is prohibited if it is located on National Forest land. Shooting across a Forest Service road and any stream or river, in which any person or property could be exposed to injury or damage as a result of the discharge is also pro hibited Oregon State law or local county ordinance would have jurisdiction of areas outsidie of the National Forest According to Dan E Wolf of the Oregon State Police, shooting, such as target practice, would be allowed if the individual was not shooting in the direction of a residence, oc cupied buildings, or a park, and not across a public road Gov. White said that cats should be vaccinated yearly, while vaccinations last for three years with an adult dog. • Vaccinations are by appointment only Call 658 5561 CCC programs cable television channel O REG O N C IT Y - C lackam as C om m unity College has stepped into the w orld of telecom munications The college has become the second community col lege in the state to begin p ro g ra m m in g a cable television channel CCC w ill appear on channel 9 of Liberty Cable TV’s net work, Part of the program w ill be the broadcasting of telecourses, scheduling in formation and registration information In addition, the college has arranged for a variety of programs from outside sources. “ We'll be receiving pro gramming from a lot of dif- ferent sources," said Lob W ynia, CCC te le c o m munications coordinator. “ There w ill be courses from Dade County Florida, Dallas and a community college c o n s o rtiu m in Southern California. And we have some P u b lic Broadcasting System pro grams scheduled " The p ro g ra m m in g department w ill cooperate with all areas of the college in scheduling programs.
