At the same time, Lobdell said he has been assured by GTNW that the company w ill file ta riffs to reduce in trastate long distance rates charged to the hearing im paired who use keyboard equipment GTNW asked that the com rate increase be allowed while the company's general rate increase proposal is be ing reviewed by the PUC staff In June, the company filed a request for an addi tional $24,537,593 in annual revenues, which included a proposal to increase coin phone rates A public hear ing on the proposal is ten tatively scheduled for Dec 1 in Salem Lobdell said the 25 cent coin rate is justified because at the current rte of 10 cents a call, coin telephone service He also said a uniform coin rate should be established throughout the state so customers w ill not m confus ed by different rates in dif ferent areas I - Lobdell allowed Pacific Northwest Bell Telephone Co to increase its coin rate to 25 cents in September He said he exp e cts o th e r telephone companies in the state to request an increase in their coin phone rates in the near future The 25-cent rate is ex pected to generate an estimated $522,479 annually for GTNW, which has 2, (MM) pay telephones in its service area Pay telephones can be us ed by customers without in serting a coin to make col lect calls or calls billed to a c r e d it c a rd or home telephone number 911 calls also can be made without use of a coin Local men named to board Gov V ic A tiy e h has nominated three area men as members of the standby Selective Service claim s board No 9 for Clackamas County Michael Kostrba, Sandy High School athletic direc tor, II If Hazelett, a Sandy chiropractor, and Kobert Daly, an electrician from Boring, w ill now have their names forwarded to Presi dent Konald Heagan for his approval Other nominees on board No 9 are Gary Day, an auc tio n e e r , and B u s s e ll Newcomer, a real estate sales manager Both men are from Canby Upon approval by the president, the nominees would serve on local claims boards if there was a na tional draft call-up Oregon Selective Service System Director Robert B. Ball said duties of the boards include hearing requests for exemp tion from the draft Those names, five from each of 21 geographical areas in Oregon, took part in a large scale recruitment ef fort.
