County officials refute farm claims Clackamas County o f ficials last week refuted a re cent claim by looo Friends of Oregon that counties are subverting Oregon’s farm land p ro te c tio n . The c o u n ty ’s m essage was delivered to the State Senate Environment and Ixind Use Committee County Counsel Scott Parker and Environmental Services Assistant Director Ardis Stevenson rebutted the charge by presenting the senators with their own “ Study of an Invalid Study,” (la c k a m a s C o u n ty 's analysis of the loot) Friends report on county application of state standards fo r farmland The 1000 Friends’ study is fatally flawed, wrong and should not be a factor in Senate consideration of pro posed land use legislation, Parker told the committee Clackamas County and representatives of other counties at the Salem hear ing took particular exception to looo Friends' allegation that “ the performance of county elected officials can only be characterized as seandalous, '' Stevenson said.
