Sprinkle with parsley and paprika * From the files of Mittzie Juttner. Tigard by Sara Sewell Hungarian Prune Cakes Pork Chop». Veal or Fish in Wine Sauce Use white fish (sole or halibut). Season with salt, paprika and pepper or lemon seasoning F ry small onion in butter until transparent Lay into greased pyrex baking dish. Put fish or chops which have been fried golden on top Pour some white wine over it and bake at 375 degrees. For fish it takes only about 10 minutes Pork or veal take longer. Cover and cook until done. Serve with rice. From the files of Mrs Stephen C. Juttner (M ittzie), Tigard. Cucumber Salad This cucumber salad (the German kind) is good with veal. Salt thinly sliced cucumbers and let stand for an hour or so Squeeze out some of the juice. Chop in a bit of garlic ( if liked*, or use a drop or two of juice, add salad oil. vinegar or lemon juice. Sometimes I 2 cups sifted flour Chop in I cup of shortening, part butter, until crumbly. Make hollow in center, add 2 egg yolks, a tablespoon of sugar and crumble in a cake of yeast Heat some m ilk and cool until lukewarm Stir in as much as needed to hold dough together, (like pie crust). Use half of dough at a time and roll out, cut into squares. 2 to 3 inches F ill with thick prune or apricot jam Fold corners together into triangle, press with fork or edges. Beat egg whites until foamy Spread some on cakes Dip into finely chopped nuts mixed with sugar and bake 350 degrees for about 20 minutes until light brown. JR ► ÜL r J Senior center news Flu shots o ffe red to seniors Flu shots w ill be given at the Senior Center on Thursday, Oct 20. starting at 130 pm. These shots are for A-Victoria and B-Hong Kong type flus and are intended prim arily for people over 65 No doctor’s prescription is necessary to receive the shot however, it is not recom mended for anyone allergic to eggs, with a fever or who has received another vaccination within 14 days of the flu clinic. The cost of the shot w ill be on a sliding fee scale with S3 being the top of the scale. The clinic w ill be conducted by the Gackamas County Health Department The afternoon program previously scheduled for Oct. 20 w ill be changed to Tuesday, Oct. 25. Leslie L DeMarsh pledged Pi Beta Phi, Rich Bignall pledged Kappa Sigma and Scott A H ill pledged Sigma Chi. Sororities at OSU pledged a total of 456 coeds at the end of the largest formal fall term rush in 20 years The 1977 figure is the highest since the fall of 1957 when the pledges totaled 425 The numbers began to dwindle during the late 1960s and early 1970, said Kay Conrad, assistant dean of students and adviser to Panhellenic. Conrad pointed to several reasons that might explain the numbers increase this fall: E a rly re g is tra tio n figures indicated that enrollment of women at Oregon State was on the increase this fall, and Panhellenic carried on an extensive promotion program throughout the state this past summer. Christian women plan style show A fashion show featuring clothes from Heidi's Boutique w ill be part of the Sandy C hristia n Women’s Club program, Friday, Oct 21, at Oral Hull Park The event w ill begin at 11:45 a m. with a soup luncheon. Scholarships are offered to women who wish to retrain or upgrade their profession.
