I ’ve been a member of this organization of fo rm e r U n ite d A irlin e stewardesses since it was formed in 1960 M y flying days for United were during the w ar years in DC3's I was based in Portland and it used to take 7 4 hours to fly to Los Angeles with lots of stops Now it takes two hours nonstop 000 Al Salazar is doing pretty well in Providence Hospital — still in intensive care- after his recent accident in Zigzag on Highway 2« He was thrown out and crushed by his truck He has a broken arm . leg. crushed chest, broken collar bone and severe facial cuts . . . luckily he won't need plastic surgery It would be nice to send him a card . . sounds like a long recovery A l’s wife is presently running their fam ily restaurant in Zigzag Georgia Bayliss' mother recently celebrated her 90th birthday with three parties o oo Richard and Helen Davis bought a home on Fairw ay Ave. They came here from Boulder Creek in the Santa Cruz mountains in California, but they were Oregonians and glad to be back. o oo Ray W ells was elected president of the Portland Bowling Association of the National Bowling Congress Ray is a mountain resident. o oo Loretta (" M a ”) Bender, a sometime school bus driver has done a neat turn with her berry patch She bought a used school bus which she now use« to carry a flock of kids to her fields. o oo Congratulations in order — To Dave and Sue Enna. State Fair entertainment line-up set Jose F e lic ia n o , country singer Jeannie C Riley and the comedy team of Skiles and Henderson lead the en tertainment lineup announced this week for the Oregon State F air. F a ir Director Ron Ingberg said on-stage entertainment during the 112th edition of the fair w ill be in the 3,200-seat Salem Armory. Admission w ill be free for those who have already gained admittance to the fair E n te rta in m e n t w ill be presented daily at 2 and 8 p.m. Opening the schedule on Saturday. Aug 27. w ill be Feliciano, a two-time Gram my award winner. He is perhaps best known for his 1968 recording of "Light My F ire ." Skiles and Henderson, a family-oriented comedy team based in California, will appear Sunday. Aug 28 Riley, best known for her single. "Harper Valley P T A ," is scheduled for Aug 29 Clay Hart and Sally Flynn, a duo fo rm e rly w ith the Lawrence Welk show, will perform Tuesday and Wed nesday. Aug 30 and 31. Ray Charles will perform Thursday, Sept 1; Freddy Fender. Sept. 2; Flash Cadillac and the Continental Kids. Saturday and Sunday. Sept. 3 and 4. Monday. Sept. 5, Labor Day. w ill be Bluegrass Day. with performances by local bluegrass bands. Dr. Corns Bluegrass Remedy and The Sawtooth Mountain Boys. While there was rain In tome mountain areas, none fell at the park durir^ the picnic There was a big fire to ait around and lots of good food The program chairmen, M r and Mrs. Grant Defihazer, had invited Rusty Reagan to bring h it guitar and play and ting. Everyone enjoyed the campfire music. During the picnic a lady fisherman came by with a 30- inch steelhead she had just caught In a pool In the river just off the campground Thia made several people wish they had brought their fishing gear AU boat out, and doing a bit of fishing, a bit of swimming and just plain doing nothing. The weather waa great. W arm , but a good breeze, and very cool at night. ActuaUy It seemed more like fail then summer and it still does around It was too had that the clouds had to come In, ruining any chances of seeing the moun tain, but everyone came back with big smiles on their faces, so they really enjoyed their Right We spent a week over at the lot, end got a lot done We took some tim e out for taking the Farmers Union slatas picnic Need an airline?
