Welches is the host school scheduling gam es amung Boring. Cottrell, Cor b e tt, D am ascu s, O rie n t. Redland and Sandy. General admission is 25 cents and the public is cordially in vited to enjoy this exciting and active sport with all of these teams participating. The Welches volleyball team has had a great season of seven wins and two losses They were d e fe a te d by C o ttre ll and Redland early in the season. They are making a strong comeback after winning their rem atch with Cottrell. There w ill be a home game this F rid a y afternoon at 3:45. Orient w ill be the opponent. The final two games of the season are also home games with Redland on Oct. 25 and Corbett on Oct. 29. Jeanine Boldt is the coach and she feels volleyball is a good way to learn sports manship and teamwork. F irst team consists of Stella Landis, captain; B arbara Haugh and Colene McDonald are both outstanding servers, supported by Leslie Mann, Karen Knapp and M ichelle Bradley Anyone who enjoys spectator sports w ill enjoy seeing these games and cheering for our home team ooo HOODLAND W OMENS CLUB is getting together every T uesd ay fo r a C h ristm as workshop to make decorations and everything imaginable to help you decorate your home for Christmas. W ally McKenzie spoke to all the teachers to instruct them in the proper method of brushing. If the habit is ingrained in the child it w ill be a lifelong habit. Explanatory letters were sent to parents and some did not want their children to take part in the daily brushing and weekly fluoride treatments. The fluoride waas donated to the school by the state and the school provided the tooth brushes ooo Hoodland C h am b e r of Commerce w ill sponsor a presentation by the M t Hood National Forest explaining the Bull Run W ater Shed and all of the land use plans for that area T im e is of the essense to send in your chosen alternative or proposal before the end of this m onth. His friends decided Big Chris should have an Aloha Fund for his planned trip to Haw aii in December C arl Christensen, better known us Big Chris, has been a lift operator at Ttm berline for 10 years and is recognized there us a top notch em ploye . never missing a day of work or ever late H e ’s helped m any a youngster to learn to ski although he can't ski himself due Io broken ankles years ago He sit-down-skis on a ski bike and sometimes skis home to Gov't Camp on his bike Chris says, " I have more friends on the mountain than I'v e ever had ” The more than 125 people who showed up for the potluck dinner in his honor from far and near also took part in the Government Camp Olympics, Mike Caruthers won the firewood splitting contest, Bill Brett the tobacco spitting match, Joey M arlow the cone throwing contest. Matheus won the dog derby and the Junior maple bar contest. Bob Butler captured the prize for maple bar and coffee eat off, and M argaret Waber and Kelly Quint tied for honors in the pan handling test. Bob and Shelley Butler, Wendy Evans and Dave Butt were the instigators with lots of help fro m J e ff W illia m s , M argaret Waber, Edna Kruse, P au l and Ja n e t G oodell, Cascade Ski Club.
