Rainy days are made for picnics

Nature's “wash-days” aren’t
ideal for picnics.
But for Oregonians, it's often
a long wait for good picnicking
weather Those who have been
here long enough to develop
webbed feet don't wait, they
just go anyway
Of course, it's wise to chouse
carefully, when it comes to a
rainy-day picnic site Some are
better equipped for wet
weather than others
Wildwood is a good spot on
“wash-days ’ Operated by the
Bureau of Land Management
near Wemme, the large park is
sheltered throughout, by tall
trees
Many bonuses are in store for
the web-footed picnicker here
the fragrance of wet earth, the
quiet, broken only by the
splashing of nndrops, and the
rare flashes of sunlight, which
illum inate the just-w ashed
greenery
Even if the rain doesn’t go
away, you can
Don’t wait for a sunny day to
enjoy the outdoor beauty of
parks such as Wildwood, shown
