So did I, until today when I took some trash to the coun ty dump on LoopHlghway. Now, the mystery has been solved. People simply do not want to take things to a dump where they will be treated rudely, in sulted, and subjected to abusive language by those in charge. At lea st, that is what hap pened to me there today. I wonder how many others have been subjected to the same abuse? Lindsey Kt. 2, Sandy Dear Editor: Apropos the water boaro election to be held at Wemme this June 12, 1968, there are still those among us who seem ingly are not willing to face the facts. This election is for the purpose of permitting the citizens of a part of the water d istrict, whose boundaries were drawn som e 35 years ago, to withdraw from it. They seek to do so for the very good reason that they already have developed excellent aid ample supplies of water at their own considerable effort and ex pense. They have already a c complished what the district was originally set uptodo,dur ing the last 35 years. Now, it seem s, there are those in the d istrict, who for one reason or another, have not yet managed to secure sa t isfactory water supplies, who are opposing this movement to withdraw. It seem s self evident that they are motivated by the wish to force others to do foi them what they have not su c ceeded in doing for them selves, I have already expressed the opinion that the 35 year old boundaries of the present so called water supplies, who are opposing this movement to withdraw. I have already expressed the opinion that the 35 year old boundaries of the present so called water district are en tirely obsolete, and that the first efforts to establish effec tive com m unit’ action along these lines sohould be to re appraise the needs ofthepoeple in the various communities in the W elches, Zig Zag, Bright wood and possibly Rhododen dron areas. After this is done objectively, and if sufficient need is found to exist for a su f ficient number of people, a water d istrict should be formu lated with boundaries that properly conform to these needs; and, Incidentally, a w illingness to pay the cost. Ihe people of the Welches Water District have recently d ecisively rejected the efforts of the water board to breathe life into a dead horse. An e f fort that would have saddled the community with a debt of over a half-m illion dollars for an ineffective aid poorly plan ned program. The present re sistan ce to the proposed with drawal program is a further effort to prevent the dead horse from receiving a decent burial. The winds of change are blowing here as they are e ls e where, and a new w aterdlstrlct program should be drawn up to reflect these changes. Those who oppose this view - point can only do so out of fear that a naw water district would not be supported by the com munity at large, that therefore, it would be preferrable to try to capture a group of unwlll- ing citizens who have ixithlng to gain so that w illy-nilly, they will be forced to pay taxes to pay for a program that cannot staid on its own feet.
