Powell Blvd. Grexham Sandy Public Library The Bookworm The circulation ot the Sandy Public Library for slightly over half the month, averaged about 110 books a day, ( around 875 books), and 200 card holders were In the library for these books. Gifts to the library In the past week totaled 24 books. Eleven books were presented by Mr. and Mrs. Ault Lee Moore Jr. six by Mr. and Mrs, Harold Bushue and seven by Mr. and Mrs. Gary Lane. Some 50 of our newly purchased books are being cataloged and will soon be on the shelves. A THOUGHT »»If’ -Wllym Girl Scout News Troop 760 The girls of Girl Scout Troop 760 received their merit badges at a Court of Award at the Sandy Grade School PTA m eet ing, Monday night. The meeting was opened with the presenta tion of the flag by members of the 4th grade Girl Scouts of Troop 760. Debra Hartsock, Sue Ann Le van and Michelle Noehren were rededicated in to scouting. Awards were received by all 18 girls of the troop. These were: Diana Benoschek, cook ing, dabbler, housekeeper, my home and pets; Nancy Carmony, Backyard fun, books, dabbler and my home; Teresa Cowden, my home, story teller, toymak- er and water fun; Debra Chris tiansen, housekeeper and toy- maker, Cheryl Garber, health aid, home-health and safety, personal health and water fun; Shannon Hadley, collector (horses), dabbler, my home and pets; Debra Hartsock, Troop Crest (pine tree); Debbie Hite, housekeeper, my camera and toy maker; Marilyn Homsley, health aid, home-health and safety and personal health; Di ana Johnston, health aid,home- health and safety and personal health; SueAnne Levan, Troop Crest; Michelle Noehren, health aid, home-health and safety, personal health and Troop Crest; Jodi Perkins, dabbler; Julie Pursel, my home and toy maker; Valerie Sander, health aid, home-health and safety; personal health and water fun; Patti Searls, health aid, home- health and safety and personal health; Julie Wilson, b ooks,col lector (books), magic carpet, toy maker and sewing; Lynne Wolfe, books, collector and storyteller. Many of the girls* mothers have helped the troop in many ways. Mrs. Dee Benoschek worked with six of the girls for a ten-week period to earn their health badges and has now taken the remainder of the troop so they may complete their health badge requirements before the end of the school year, M rs. Edna Hite worked with six girls to complete their dabbler badge and has taken another group of six girls. Mrs. Charlotte Vanse and her group of six girls each made- five toys for their toymaker badge and gave three toys each to the Sandy Community Serv ice Action Center as their service project for this quar ter. Thanks were given to the other mothers who have helped — M rs. Hadley and Mrs. Perk ins for driving the girls to ska ting and Mrs. Pursel for mak ing out permission slip s. Eleven of the girls attended Sandy Presbyterian church on Girl Scout Sunday, March 11. The troop will be selling Girl Scout cookies to some of the businesses of Sandy and house- to-house from March 27 to April 6. Dutch Dainty aid mint cook ies w ill be offered at $1 a box. The Girl Scouts had a very nice display in the window of B rew sters during Girl Scout week March 11 to 17. Troop 760 was organized and is led by M rs. Marjorie Sander and M rs. Marion Carmony. They also have a branch troop of five g ir ls, who attend Bull Run School, led by M rs. Mar- garette Wadklns. The girls will also p artici pate in the Sandy Grange Talent program Friday evening, March 22. They will be sellin g baked goods after the program to help pay for their camp tuition. MRS.
