A resident of Lake Oswego, Maney filed for Po sition No. 4 In Clackamas Coun ty now hekl by Dale Hanlan, Democrat. Maney, an advocate of pro perty tax relief for the home- owner, believes that any pro perty tax relief should be funneled through the Basic School Support Fund, "T ills r e lieves property taxes and gives the necessary monies to schools," lie said. Last year Maney served as staff director to a special sub committee on education, chaired by Congresswoman Edith Green, V.S. House of Representatives, He Indicated that his principal interest Is the creation of a sound fiscal policy for the State of Oregon. "I am definitely against any tax program that will hurt tha sm all man. Responsible state and federal governments should be able to curb inflation which hurts all c itiz e n s,” he added, Maney sakl he stands behind any efforts that would curb school drop outs.
