H«xl National For est has a new map out of the ML Hood Wilderussa. Lt to a contour map with a detailed trail log, pictures, and other Interesting and pertinent ln- formation. The map can now t»e acquired from the Zig Zag Ranger Station at Zig Zag. The area set aside by the U. S, Department of Agricul ture as wilderness Is approxi mately 14,000 acres of the south and east ¡»art of Mt. Hood Commercial timber cutting, roads, motor travel, or any pormanont devalopmoat ar* prohibited a (thin tills area. An unlimited opportunity for horseback riding over 80 miles of trails If found tn this wil derness area. The trails also invite the hiker and back-pack er to explore the canyons and ridges of Mt. Hood. There are also beautiful alpine meadows cover with mountain flowers, cross country skiing and mountain climbing. To some extent wilderness I* a like with our heritage of the frontier, but mor* it 1« a discovery or renewal of some thing within us.
