She Is In Intensive care. Mrs. Dorothy Marsh was taken to the Keizer Memorial Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 16, by Port Or ford Community Ambulance. Of Saturday morning, o c t. 16, Mrs. Kosskey was taken by Commun ity Ambulance to Southern Coos General Hospital, In Bandon. money away. The agency Is admin istered by a governing board of directors made up of low Income representatives, public officials, and private groups and interests. In the Port Orford area, pro jects consist of summer camp ing, emergency food and medi cal services, and a community center. The camp, free to low Income children, provides a summer of funfor childrenfrom all over southwestern Oregon. The camp is located on the Six es River some six m iles north of Port Orford on Dry creek. Through a special program, e- mergency food and medical ser vices is delivered to eligible low Income fam lles In the area. Deliveries are made especially to elderly citizens and fam ilies who cannot transport their com- moddities from the county dis tribution center in Gold Beach. Activities Include sewing clas ses for low Income women as well as cooking cla sses which are held every Tuesday morn ing at 10 a.m. to help people understand and make better use Community Action Center Activities Members of the local Com munity Action Center are striv ing to acquaint the local ie sl- dents of the need of local vol unteers and to take action In seeking solutions to the exist ing poverty problems. Other cla sses have centered around hobbies, arts, and crafts. The center Is also a clearing house for information of Interest to low Income per sons as to their rights and existing services aimed at help ing the low Income group. These activities are monitored by a representative group of local citizens known as the Area Coun cil. The council, made up of 15 to 20 people, Including low Income representatives, an alyze the needs of the poor and conditions of poverty In the low area, and set priorities for projects. Their last meeting was held Wednesday, o c t. 20. This Area Council also acts a s a spokesman for low Income peo ple In the community. ______ The center also takes dona tions of used clothing and house hold goods making them avail able to low-income fam ilies. They are presently In need of electric stoves, baby cribs, and work shoes. Volunteers of all ages are needed In the local area to help with various projects.
