Newlyweds Choose Ranch Life 4— Port Orford News, Thursday, October 21, 1965 North Cnrry Johnson-Woodworth Vows Repeated II' Neonia Hall Dorcas Groups Name Officers The F ir s t Community Church In P o rt O rford was the scene of a lovely late summer wed ding as Judith Elaine Johnson became the bride of Robert Clare Woodworth, sor. of M r. and M rs. George Woodworth of P ort O rford on Oct. 9 at 2 o’ clock. The bride Is the daughter of M r. and M rs . J. Ben Johnson of P o rt O rford. The Rev. Jamie F rance p e r formed the double rin g cere mony before an a ltar flanked with flo ra l arrangements of y e l low flg l mums and white ch ry santhemums. Given In m arriage by her father, the bride was lovely In a flo o r length b lrd a l gown of white slipper stain, made by the brid e , featuring a scooped neck line and long b r i d a l point sleeves. She wore a shoulder length v e il which had previously been worn by her s is te r and m a t r o n of honor, M rs . Joe Anderson. The b rid e ’ s flow ers were y e l lo w rosebuds a n d stephanotis on a white Bible. M rs. Anderson, the b rid e ’ s only attendant, was gowned in a light pink net dress and c a r ried a nosegay of white c h ry santhemums. Ronald Woodworth was best man fo r his bro th e r. Ushers were Gene Wilson, Glen Sick les, Joe Anderson and Douglas Johnson. M rs. V ir g il Libby was vocal soloist and sang “ The Sunshine of Y’our S m ile” and “ Because” accompanied by M rs. F o rre s t E llio tt at the organ who also played the tra d itio n a l nuptial music. The newlyweds greeted th e ir guests at a reception in the church social rooms im m ediat ely following the ceremony. The b rid e ’ s table was cen tered with a fo u r-tie re d cake, cut and served by M iss Patty E llis and Miss Judy M yers. Miss Rosa B alzer ladled punch and Miss Kathy Lindsay poured coffee. M iss Sheryl Mechals registered the guests, M rs. Ron Woodworth took p ictures. A r rangements fo r the reception were In charge of the C h ris tian Women’ s Fellowship class of the Community Church. F or her daughter’ s wedding, M rs. Johnson chose a blue knit suit with a blue velvet hat. M rs. Woodworth wore a blue wool su it with a pink hat and both wore white carnation c o r sages. For the wedding tr ip up the coast, the new M rs. Woodworth wore a navy blue wool dress with a white c o lla r, navy blue shoes and a white wool coat. The new bride Is a 1965 grad uate of P acific High School; her bridegroom is a 1959 grad uate of P a cific, and attended Oregon State U niversity. The new M r, and M rs. Wood- worth are now at home In Sea side where he Is an assistant In Industrial A rts Shop at the Seaside High School and is also attending Clatsop Community College. AT WEDDING Susan Donaldson of P ort O r ford was In Newport during the weekend to attend a wedding of a friend. REINKE VISITORS Recent v is ito rs at the home of M r. and M rs. Ray Reinke were Rae Ann Reinke, M r. and M rs. Fred Reinke, Helen Rein ke of Los Angeles, and M r. and M rs. Bud Carlton of Seattle, Wash. tage Grove. On the way over, they stop ped to say “ h e llo ” to Jlggs King at Oakridge, and saw Rus s e ll F orty and David who were headed fo r a hunting near S ilve r Lake. In P rin e v ille they visited fo r m er P o rt O rfo rd residents, Dan and V iolet Oxley, whom they had not seen In many years. They have a tr a ile r court and like the Eastern Oregon coun try . M rs. Oxley’ s father, Leo nas Hlckox, lives there also, and at 79 years of age looks very w ell. They asked about everyone In town and apprec iated a copy of the town paper with the picture of Port O rfo rd in 1917. M rs. Oxley had recently been in the hospital and Is expected to be bedfast fo r possibly two more months. T h e ir address Is 645 W. 6th St. in P rin e v ille and notes from old acquaintances would cheer the long hours of convalescence. V E IT KOSTAS Weekend guests of M r. and M rs. The purpose of these societies Is welfare service and acts of benevolence as perform ed by Dorcas In the Bible. D. E. Caslow, Union Con ference Home M i s s i o n a r y leader, and C. J. Ritchie, Ore gon Conference Home M ission ary leader, were present and spoke of the aid the societies were able to give in recent flood disasters, working with the Red Cross and local wel fare agencies. They also ex plained more effective ways of serving those less fortunate than ourselves.
