W e have som e w onderful people w orking and volunteering their tim e for our children. U nfortunately, it costs m ore m oney than people realize to operate. It costs betw een $1200 and $1400 a m onth just to stay open. This includes w ages, rent, utilities and supplies. The center receives grant m oney from the E arl Foundation and other generous people for its operations, but w e are struggling each m onth to stay open. If you w ould like to invest in a child ’s w ell-being, please donate som e of your tim e or m oney and help us help the children. D onations m y be m ade to the Tow n of Butte Falls- P O B ox 268. The B utte Falls Lioness C lub m eets the first Tuesday of each m onth at 1:00 in the C om m unity H all. W e are a service club and volunteer our services at the sight and hearing center each w eek for a craft and bingo day! W e also donate funds to the Lions E ye B ank of O regon, D ogs for the D eaf, S chool for the B lind and D eaf, The D iabetes Fund, Lions Y outh O utreach, and Butte Falls S cholarship. W e furnish baskets for the needy at Thanksgiving and C hristm as and do the candy sacks for S anta at the C hristm as concert. The club also sponsors the E aster Egg Hunt each year. W orking w ith the students in their fund raising is another positive w ay that w e help. O ur current charter is outdated and needed to be updated. This hearing w ill be a dessert potluck. It is called “ A rchaeology of the U pper R ogue ” . It is brought to you by the BLM and S outhern O regon H istorical S ociety and has to do w ith the history of the native peoples of the U pper R ogue. There w ill be a slide show and presentation som etim e during that period. Tim e and date w ill ba announced. V acation B ible S chool w ill be either the w eek of June 26 “ ’- SO 01 or July 3 rd - 7th this year. It w ill be held at the A ssem bly of G od Church because of the remodel at the Community Bible C hurch. More information next month.
