At the regular council meeting held June 13, the council approved the
following for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1996:
The renewal of the telecommunications contract (911).
The renewal of an agreement with Jackson County for dog
licensing. (The town issues the county license and 80% of the
fee remains in the town.)

The only business from the audience was presented by Naomi
Fredenburg. Naomi was concerned about the wooden sign board in the
park and the color of the lettering. She feels that since the “ no ” words
in the regulations are not legible, it is perhaps not noticed by park users,
(i.e. “ NO Dogs in the park ” ).

new member. The council approved both. A request for placement of
a modular home on Laurel Street, on the Covey property, was approved.

Hey, it's July already and that means that the
fourth is right around the corner. W e want to
remind everyone that Fire Season is in effect so
we all need to be extra careful with fireworks.
Have a great time on the fourth, and we'll see
you in the parade!
Outside Fire Protection Policies have been
coming in at a great rate this year, and we are
glad to be able to serve you if the need arises.
Also thanks to those who also donated to our
department. W e really appreciate it.
Well, short and simple that's the way to do things
this time-see you all in August.

The Police report was posted by the Marshall after the council meeting.
Unfortunately the Marshall had included the names of individuals in the
report, (i.e. “ James Smith was subpoenaed, J.Doe was cited ). The
Marshall mistakenly thought the council had requested names in his
reports. This sort of information is not for public distribution. One item
stated that an individual was “ cited ” in connection with the robbery at
the store. This was not correct. May I apologize on behalf of the town
for those persons whose names were printed in the report. We have
requested that this not occur again.
The Public Works report included a request to obtain bids for paving
several street repair jobs in town. The request was approved.
A . special thanks to community residents who served on the Budget
Committee this year, and to Melissa Owens, Budget Officer, who
skillfully prepared all the budget documents.
Members this year
included the council and six residents: Barry Edwards, Dan Murphy,
Diane Holm, Julie Freeman, Neil Ellis and Pam Waddell. The Public
Hearing for the 96-97 Budget was held June 20. The budget is subject
to final approval by the council at a special meeting on June 27.
Under rumor control for this month, I recently heard that the property
leased by the Forest Service for the Butte Falls Ranger District office
was not on the tax roles. By the time I heard the rumor, the “ property
was exempt” from taxes. This is not the case. The property is not yet
on the tax roles, but will be, and will be retroactive to July 1, 1994.

Auction Time Again! The Annual Butte
Falls Ambulance Auction will be held
August 10th!!! W e ’ll be in the Butte Falls
Park once again with auctioneer, Gal. Jose
Acosta. W atch for the flyers to find out
what time it starts. W e ’ve been collecting
great items for the past year, Fm sure we ’ll
have just what you need! Stay tuned, more
to come!
W e ’ll see you in the park on July 4th, in
the parade and as we wander selling raffle
tickets. W e have a 50/50 raffle going and
a raffle for a super Dirt Devil vacuum "See
Anne, Melissa, Carrie, or Lynda for early
tickets and any ambulance volunteer on the
4th!
