JU LY Citizen of tine M ontii Linda Matthew ’s tradition of excellence and of service, coupled with a sense of modesty, makes her an excellent asset to the school and community organizations she serves. Linda and her husband Jim have been residents of Butte Falls for nearly six years. As a wife of a retired business executive for the past 35 years, the Matthews bring a vast array of talents and experience to our little town. Besides raising three beautiful children, and being a proud grandparent, Linda has spent the last 15 years giving time and help to abused children. In 1992, Linda Matthews was the recipient of the J.C. Penny “ Golden Rule Award ” as the Volunteer of the Year ’ in San Diego, CA. After completing work on their new home in Butte Falls, Linda became active in numerous community organizations. She is a member of the school district fiance committee and serves as secretary of the Butte Falls Scholarship Foundation. Linda is also a member of the Jackson County Children ’s Wellness Sub Committee and Citizen ’s Review Board. She is a valued member of the community ’s Task Force on Children and Families. Through our P.A.S.S.A.G.E.S. program, Linda has provided encouragement and support in many ways to the children and families in our own community. We have all met the women full of energy, integrity, and joy — and overflowing with love W omen like Linda Matthews. Linda Matthews at the Butte Falls Family Fun-Walk- Jim Matthews Run, enjoying one of her many activities with children. was asked what qualities he most admired in his wife, he said, “ she ’s a good finder — always looking for the “ gold ” in others. The moments she treasures the most are the ones she has done things to help others in spirit of giving and loving. ” Coincidently, Linda Matthews has been working in the interior design of the new Butte Falls Museum with members of the big Butte Historical Society. The museum is scheduled to have an open house on the 4th of July. You are invited to see the progress— and perhaps even have a chance to meet our Citizen of the Month. Isn ’t it wonderful to know that the community is made up of such great people as the Matthews. Thank you for all you ’ve done.
