The VML satellite center at St. Paul began a series of adult educa tion classes on Monday of this week. VISTA Volunteer Carolyn Dunn and Archie Gress, Woodburn Area teacher, are in charge. The Sandy center now has near ly 40 farm labor camps on their route for newspaper delivery. A well child conference and im munization clinic w ill be held on April 12 at the Independence City Hall. Parents are encouraged to bring their youngsters to this free service. The Woodburn VML 4-H Club had its regular meeting on Thurs day of last week. Thirty-five boys and girls attended the meeting, which lasted from 7 to 9 p.m. Some of the activities were sewing for the girls and workshop for the boys. Elaine Kawasaki., VISTA Volunteer, is the sponsor. Bernardino Mercado of Salem re cently completed a welding, course at Salem Technical School and has found a job in Portland. He and his wife have moved to Woodburn. Thirty VISTAS Graduate Thirty VISTA Volunteers w ill graduate tomorrow, April 9, at the University of Oregon, where they have been training during the past six weeks. They w ill now go to various assignments in the United States to help the War on Poverty. Todos son bien venidos, no falte Ud. STATE MIGRANT MINISTRY By Ardath Ort There was a Migrant Ministry conference in Hillsboro on Tuesday; the Migrant Ministry came from all parts of the state. Some of the round tables were held in the Hills boro VML Opportunity Center The featured speaker of the final day was Senator Don Willner. Two of the highlights were a de licious luncheon, served by_the Congregational ladies on the second day, and a dinner of Mexican foods on the first day. The dinner was prepared by four ex-migrant families, to show their appreciation for both the Migrant Ministry and the VML in helping them get out of the migrant stream and get settled. These were Mr. end Mrs. Domingo Figueroa, Mr. and Mrs. Margarita Trevino, Mrs. Manuel Martinez, and Mr. and Mrs; Emilio Hernandez and families. They served more than 100 persons with a delightful dinner of tamales, tacos, traditional sauces and bean salad dishes.
