While Jim Shelter felt John Young must have put in 2000 hours for the Fire fighter I class, John insists that it was only about 400. Still, a pretty significant contribution to the safety of homes in Sumpter. Then there’s the time the Firefighter I students put in, too. Sumpter plans to use its grant next spring, when weather conditions permit. Organizations Sumpter Valley Community Vol unteers (SVCV) has awarded its first grant. $256 was approved for Cracker Creek Museum of Mining signs for the exhibits. The Oct. 20 planning meeting of the SVCV Christmas Activities Committee was quite productive. The first area to talk about was the community Christmas tree. Chil dren (and grandchildren) in Sumpter and the surrounding area are invited to make decorations for the tree. Children will also be wel come to join in decorating the tree on Saturday, Nov. 28, at 1 p.m., up at the Stage Stop Gas Station. Hello, my name is Baxter and I’m about seven or eight months old. They tell me that I’m a Yorkshire Terrier/Shi Tzu mix but I am rather large for those two breeds. I am a very happy, healthy male and I weigh 20 pounds. As you can see from my picture, I have gorgeous long black and tan hair. I need to be groomed regularly every 6 to 8 weeks to keep me clean and handsome. I’m very social and do well with other dogs, small children and adults. I have never been around cats. I am partially house trained, but still have accidents in the house. I do not know how to walk on a leash, house manners, or basic commands. So I need to find a family that has time and patience to work with me. I am current on all my vaccinations and will be neutered prior to my adoption. If you are looking for a small family pet, then look gfl| no further as I am the guy for you. Please call Carmen at 541-519-4530 or Best Friends of Baker, Inc.
