That's the first ques tion Jeremy and Ashlee Yerrick asked when learning of a business opportunity from a friend to assume the operation and management of Blue Mountain Oil, Inc. Living in Montana at the time, the couple had not heard of our little town. They came for a visit and very much liked what they saw. "We love to work out, so we naturally gravitated toward the YMCA right away," said Jeremy. "I Ye traveled all over the world and worked out in a lot of differ ent gyms-this is one of my very 1 favorites," he said. Jeremy is also partial to Sam-O-Swim. "Paula [Moe] does a great job , with the pool," he added. "We love the outdoors, hiking, I and the scenery is beautiful," he added. They've been in Baker City a year, assuming operations immediately upon their arrival. In Feb. of this year they began a huge project, overhauling the shop, making repairs and adding a brand new cardlock at the plant site in Baker City on 13th Street. The Oregon State Fire Marshall restricts membership to business, government, and non-profit customers only, but the Haines and North Powder cardlocks are open to individuals. The new cardlock, which opened this week in Baker, offers state of the art fueling for semis with their satellite pump so truck drivers can rapidly fuel both tanks on each side. Ashlee is a chiropractor, although not practicing right now as she is focusing completely on their business endeavor. She teaches a fitness class at the 'Y' seasonally. Jeremy holds two bachelor degrees, one in Economics and the other in Supply Chain Management from the University of Nevada Reno. Both volunteer with the Baker City Fire Department and they look forward to archery season. The couple says they had an exceptional experience as they worked through each step of the expansion process and say that Baker City is the friendliest place they've ever lived. "We feel like a real part of the community already," Ashlee said. Jeremy is very experienced in the construction business as he served as a Jeremy and Ashlee Yerrick, general managers of Blue Mountain Oil, Inc. The Yerricks with their dog, Draft U.S. Navy Seabee building bases in Iraq. He later became an Underwater Construc tion Diver during his six year enlistment so was very prepared as he brought the project forward to officials. His background and experience proved very helpful. On Saturday, the fair wrapped up with a Buyer's and Leader's Luncheon with delicious beef for the luncheon provided by the DLX and LNK Ranches of Haines and North Powder, respectively. Following was the award presentation and 4-H / FFA Livestock Sale. Special awards presented are as follows with the winner's name followed by the sponsor.
