The boys trav- eled to Roseburg’s Findlay Field on Friday, Sept. 1, chalking up a 40-20 win against the Culver Bulldogs in a non-league game. Kickoff was at noon, and the heat and smoky, hazy conditions were challenging. Sophomore Elijah Polk led the Cougars in scoring with four touchdowns and junior Caleb Hess contributed two TDs in the fourth quarter. The Cougars travel to Adair Village (near Corvallis) Friday, Sept. 8 to face the Santiam Christian Eagles. Friday Sept. 1 IVHS traveled to Roseburg to play Culver High School. Up-cycle Furniture Contest judging grows near The opportunity to win $500, $300, and $200 in cash for first, second, and third places is close! Judging will occur at the closing session of the Illinois Valley Farmers’ Market Sept. 22, and awards will be given out that day. For the second year in a row, the Southern Oregon Guild is sponsoring the Up-cycle Furniture Contest to encourage creativity. Unusual ideas and thinking outside the box are the challenge. With no entry fee and using “junk” for materials, the contest is available to anyone of any age with a creative idea.
