The Illinois Valley Fire District is accepting applications for the following position: FIREFIGHTER / EMT GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: As a member of a fire department company and under the direct supervision of a fire department supervisor, a firefighter/EMT performs firefighting, rescue, emergency medical care and other types of emergency response related duties. Participates in fire prevention, code enforcement, and public safety education activities. Helps to maintain and make minor repairs to the fire station, fire ap- paratus, and emergency response equipment. Participates in training and personal development activities necessary to acquire and maintain the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of a firefighter in a proficient and safe manner. MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS: • High School diploma or GED • Must be 18 years of age • NFPA Firefighter 1 certification • State of Oregon Emergency Medical Technician – Basic Level or higher • Must successfully complete department written exam, oral board, background and medical screening • Valid Oregon driver’s license, or obtain within 30 days of employment WAGE: $34560 first year plus benefits $36000 after successful completion of one year probation.
