All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Wednesday, July 5 *A deputy talked with a group gathered behind St. Matthias Episcopal Church at 25904 Redwood Hwy. at 10:40 a.m. *A fellow was in the suds, and refused to leave the laundromat at 120 S. Hussey Avenue at 11:02 a.m. The intoxicated man was becoming hostile, so the manager requested that he be trespassed. He left once he realized he was in hot water. *Occupants of a red Dodge pickup truck were warned for failure to properly use seat belts at 11:31 a.m. near Waldo Road and Wood Creek Road. *The driver of a silver-colored Toyota Camry was scolded for not wearing a seat belt at 12:01 p.m. in the 4700 block of Waldo Road. *Another motorist was in trouble for no seat belt at 12:19 p.m. near the intersection of Waldo Road and Takilma Road. He was operating a white Toyota. *A transient was trespassing inside a shop in the 200 block of W. Lister Street at 1:29 p.m. *A Ducati motorcycle was ablaze off Rockydale Road near Redwood Hwy. at 1:44 p.m. Information was provided to JCSO, as this seemed suspicious. *At 1:54 p.m., a black-haired young man, 6-foot-3, 160 pounds, was walking quickly in the 800 block of Caves Hwy. He was wearing baggie shorts, a black tank top, and carrying what appeared to be a black assault rifle. Law enforcement detained the shady character at 2:11 p.m. *A deputy could not collar an individual in the 100 block of Dogwood Lane at 2:23 p.m. *Bureau of Land Management was notified of trash that was dumped near the five-mile marker on Westside Road at 2:59 p.m. *Law enforcement made the rounds in the 600 block of Frederick Court at 3:16 p.m. *At 3:29 p.m. a woman requested a welfare check on her daughter because she hadn’t spoken to her in a month. The mother heard that her offspring was staying in an abandoned trailer in the 7200 block of Rockydale Road, and she was worried about possible drug use. *There was an unattended fire at site ten at Bolan Lake Campground at 3:59 p.m. *Law enforcement went to the 3000 block of Rockydale Road at 4:23 p.m. *A tailgater was cautioned for following too closely at 4:42 p.m. near Caves Hwy. and Junction Avenue. *It made sense for a deputy to look in the lot behind Dollar General at 25868 Redwood Hwy. at 4:51 p.m. Thursday, July 6 *SOS reported an alarm at 10:44 a.m. from Green Acres in the 6500 block of Caves Hwy. (Who remembers Arnold Ziffel?) *At 12:14 p.m. a feisty gal in the 33200 block of Redwood Hwy. claimed that her landlord tried to attack her, so she clobbered him with a baseball bat. (No, it’s pay rent, not make dent.) The landlord had a Band- aid covering his wound, but he refused to talk with law enforcement. He was advised of his options. *A visitor from California was warned for cell phone usage while driving near Laurel Road and Redwood Hwy. at 1:31 p.m. *At 1:39 p.m. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors were summoned to assist with a person who died in a cabin in the 30900 block of Redwood Hwy. WHERE’S THE ALARM? *A deputy investigated a vehicle with Illinois license plates at 2:19 p.m. on the west side of Eight Dollar Bridge River Access. *A careless cad was warned for offensive littering at Little Falls Trailhead Campground at 2:34 p.m. *An individual in the 100 block of Norman Road was served with an RO at 2:45 p.m. *At 3:04 p.m. a silver-colored Chrysler with Colorado plates was abandoned in a dry creek bed near Pearsoll Road and Hogue Drive. A guy was seen fleeing the scene. *An unoccupied, secured vehicle was parked at Horn Bend Trailhead at 3:14 p.m. *A fellow in the 100 block of Hogue Drive phoned 911 requesting a tow because AAA in Colorado was no help at all. The disoriented dude had no clue where he was, but he figured he may have been on Robinson Road. (The local strains must be more potent than Colorado crops.) *A parking citation was issued at 4:02 p.m. at Echo Beach Campground. *Jerry’s Tow Service went to Hogue Drive for the Chrysler, but only found fresh tracks at 4:14 p.m. They did see an angry-looking fellow in a vehicle with Colorado plates heading northbound on Hwy. 199. *An Oregon driver was cited at River Bench Recreation Site at 5:03 p.m. *An inattentive motorist nearly ran a JCSO patrol vehicle off the road when he crossed a center line on a corner at MP 1 on Illinois River Road at 5:08 p.m. When asked why he was in the wrong lane, he replied “I was not all the way in your lane, I was distracted by my dog.” He was cited for failure to drive right and failure to provide proof of insurance. Friday, July 7 *A woman phoned 911 at 10:33 a.m. because her grandson was trespassing on property in the 8600 block of Takilma Road. When she told him to leave, he grabbed a baseball (bat?) and swung at her. The grandmother will talk to her son about obtaining an RO against the young tyrant. *At 12:14 p.m. the driver of a black Buick sedan crossed yellow and white lines, nearly sideswiping a truck in the 5000 block of Holland Loop. The passenger door was opening and closing, as if an occupant was trying to get out. (No wonder, with that kind of driving.) *Two young guys escaped injuries when their smaller compact car collided with a deer in the 2900 block of Holland Loop at 2:43 p.m. The fate of the deer remains unknown. *Braniacs were standing in the back of a Jeep as it travelled down Illinois River Road at 4:34 p.m. The driver was cited for uninsured driving, and expired registration. A warning was doled out for failure to wear seat belts. Saturday, July 8 *A black Honda Civic with a pink trunk (Pink-were they out of rattle-can black?) was not maintaining lane and driving all over the roadway near Redwood Hwy. and Westside Road at 10:03 a.m. *A pocket-dial 911 call was received at 10:18 a.m. in the 3600 block of Dick George Road. *At 11:39 a.m. a deputy watched as a driver near Horn Bend Trailhead steered completely into oncoming lanes three times to avoid pot holes. Once was on a blind corner. He was cited for failure to drive right, no driver’s license, and no insurance. *A fellow made two payments on a car, then lost his job. He arranged for his girlfriend to make his next payment, but it was too late. His mother dished out some tough love, and repossessed her car from the 12100 block of Redwood Hwy. at 11:52 a.m. The son refused to believe it was a civil matter. (Welcome to the real world.) *At 1:21 p.m. a deputy ran a check on a blue Chevrolet Avalanche with no license plates at River Bench Recreation Site. The VIN provided was not a match in seven western states. *A visitor from Washington received a citation for parking in the roadway at Diver’s Hole River Access at 1:55 p.m. *A citation was written for an individual at Swinging Bridge Illinois River Trailhead at 2:26 p.m. *A motorist was cited for no valid operator’s license, and warned for no valid registration at 2:28 p.m. in the 27000 block of Lakeshore Drive. *The tough love mother phoned 911 to report that her son stole her vehicle at 2:31 p.m. She repossessed the car because he missed a payment, and was unhappy to hear that this was a civil issue. *At 1:15 p.m. a rider was speeding around a corner in the wrong lane of Illinois River Road at MP 4. He nearly crashed to avoid a head-on collision with a JCSO patrol vehicle. Due to the narrow road and traffic, a deputy was unable to contact the risky rider. At 2:35 p.m. the unattended vehicle was located at McCaleb’s Boy Scout Camp. *A ticket awaits an individual who unlawfully parked in the roadway at Diver’s Hole River Access at 3:13 p.m. *A driver who took his half in the middle was warned for failure to maintain lane at Forks State Park at 3:28 p.m. *At 3:29 p.m., one vehicle ran into another in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy., and the driver was asleep inside. He was advised to contact his probation officer, and he stated that he would pay for repairs.
