Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, June 12 *Hull and Hull Funeral Directors were contacted regarding a deceased 98-year-old woman in the 100 block of Naue Way at 9:31 a.m. *Between midnight and 5 a.m., destructive fools cut the padlock off a gate and pried open a door to a pellet boiler in the 500 block of W. River Street. They stole a shovel and boiler cleaning tools, then discharged two fire extinguishers. Next, they ripped the hatch off a pellet tank. A report was filed for burglary, theft and criminal mischief. *A woman in the 300 block of S. Kerby Avenue was told that her stolen vehicle was seen at the 76 service station in CJ at 2:30 p.m. on June 11. The feisty gal asked the dispatcher if she had permission to shoot the thief for stealing her car, and admitted she had laid in wait for several hours with a loaded gun to shoot the culprit. She was advised that it was not legal to use deadly force to protect property, but the woman was fed-up, and didn’t care if she went to jail. A report was filed for unauthorized use of a vehicle (UUV), and photos of the suspect and missing vehicle will be provided to Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO). *Half a tank of gas was syphoned from a vehicle in the 200 block of Stevenson Street between 11:30 p.m. June 11 and 2 a.m. June 12. This also occurred five weeks ago, and two neighbors have experienced the same problem. Security cameras will be installed to help deter or capture the crooks. *Deputies investigated the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 1:29 p.m. *Everything came up clean when a deputy checked the laundromat in the 100 block of S. Hussey Avenue at 3:19 p.m. *The driver of an older Dodge was warned for expired registration at 3:24 p.m. near the intersection of Caves Hwy. and Dogwood Lane. He was cited into CJ Municipal Court for driving with a suspended license (DWSV). *A motorist was warned for failure to obey a traffic control device (FTOTCD) near S. Sawyer Avenue and W. Lister Street at 3:51 p.m. *A forgetful driver was warned for expired registration at 3:53 p.m. on Caves Hwy. near S. Old Stage Road. *Law enforcement contacted two people near Tartar Gulch and Althouse Creek at 3:58 p.m. *At 4:08 p.m. a motorist was warned for expired registration and DWSV on Redwood Hwy. near Holton Creek Road. *John Cavanaugh, 29, was detained in Josephine County Jail following his arrest in the 2500 block of Holland Loop at 4:56 p.m. Cavanaugh was charged with misdemeanor driving with a revoked license. Tuesday, June 13 *A woman in the 19200 block of Redwood Hwy. had a bone to pick with her neighbors in the 100 block of Turnagain Drive. Their large dogs keep intimidating her smaller dogs, so she threatened to shoot everyone. She WHERE’S THE ALARM? The volunteers and staff of the Illinois Valley Fire District claimed that she lost her temper and wouldn’t really do it, but her neighbor then threatened to shoot her. The matter is now in the paws of Josephine County Animal Control. *At 10:58 a.m., a determined dame claimed that her stolen car was on Lakeshore Drive, and she insisted on going there herself instead of waiting for law enforcement. Her children were with her when she met with a deputy, who told her to go home and let law enforcement handle the issue. *A deputy checked Warren Road and Hogue Drive at 11:52 a.m., because stolen vehicles are typically recovered in those locations. He located Patrick Randall Lubin, 31, a fugitive with a warrant from Clackamas County. Lubin was cited and released on charges of failure to appear for distribution of marijuana. *Law enforcement discontinued pursuit of a gold-colored GMC Suburban that was traveling 70 mph on Redwood Hwy. and Laurel Road at 1:16 p.m. The unoccupied GMC with a broken grill and dented door was found in the 300 block of S. Kerby Street at 1:25 p.m. A deputy spoke with the victim, and it appeared that she was being less than honest about the driver of the Suburban, and how it mysteriously arrived in her driveway. *There was a structure fire in the 500 block of Schumacher Street at 1:28 p.m. *Three people in a Honda Accord were in the parking lot of Illinois Valley Safe House at 2:04 p.m. The driver of the spray-painted black Honda was warned for no rear or front plates. It turned out that the vehicle had been stolen, then recovered, and they were on their way to the Dept. of Motor Vehicles. *There was a confirmed fatality at a motor vehicle accident near Holland Loop and Hummingbird Road at 2:53 p.m. *The driver of a Nissan pickup truck with no license plates was warned for FTOTCD on Caves Hwy. at 5:26 p.m. *At 5:46 p.m. a motorist near S. Junction Avenue and Terrace Drive was warned for obstructed view and cited for DWSV. Wednesday, June 14 *At 11:43 a.m. a criminal ran from law enforcement along Old Stage Road and Caves Hwy., until a deputy with a Taser stopped him in his tracks behind Old Stage Mini Storage. Michael Adam Massey, 37, was detained at Josephine County Jail on felony and misdemeanor warrants for failure to appear for possession of meth and criminal mischief. *The driver of a black Chevy Blazer was warned for failure to yield prior to entering the roadway at W. River Street and N. She had not heard from the 80-year-old since they discussed the possibility of her moving into their care facility. The director phoned the hospitals, but she was not listed as a patient. Law enforcement contacted the octogenarian, and she was fine. (Take a hint, she wants to stay home.) *Massey methed up again at 1:13 p.m. when law enforcement found drugs on him during the booking process at 1901 NE F St. The seized drugs will be added to his rap sheet. *A traveler in a white Ford Ranger with California license plates was warned for defective lighting equipment and failure to signal near Caves Hwy and Laurel Road at 1:27 p.m. *The driver of a green Toyota pickup truck was warned for no operator’s license at 1:49 p.m. near Waldo Road and Suncrest Drive. *Muffled voices and people laughing were the only sounds heard during a pocket-dial 911 call at 2:41 p.m. in the 6400 block of Holland Loop. *A JCSO dispatcher heard children yelling and a gal talking about volleyball at 2:58 p.m. from a 911-only phone in the 20800 block of Redwood Hwy. #1 Clear Friday 06/16/2017 Clear off pine needles, dead leaves & anything that can burn from your roof- lines, gutters, decks, porches, patios & along fence lines.
