Allan and Ross are the chefs and Sandy the Bartender/waitress. Really nice folks. Stop by and meet them and you’ll see what I mean. They are a welcome group as far as I’m concerned. They are very family oriented and friendly – full of smiles and happy, happy. You’ll like it there. They’re country folks. Ken LeGaux Selma Obituaries Katherine “Kate” Ellen Bain, 63 , of Wonder, Ore. died June 9, 2017 at 3 p.m. at home with her family. Kate was born Sept. 3, 1954 in Grand Rapids, Mich. She moved to Wonder 11 years ago from San Luis Obispo County, Calif. and bought Kate’s Redwood Tavern. Kate loved her children, business and community, reading and keeping her yard nice. She had an extensive board game collection and adored her dog “Maverick” a boxer-mix. She was preceded in death by her parents Marcella Marie and Kenneth Paul Bain. Kate is survived by her siblings, brother, Kenneth Paul Bain of Grants Pass; sister, Barbara Ann Bain of Vallejo, Calif.; her children, son, Richard William Ody Roche of Portland; and daughter, Marcella Marie Roche of Selma. There will not be a service at Kate’s request. She will be missed by her family and friends forever. Dennis Mickelsen, 76 , of Cave Junction died June 10, 2017 at Asante Rogue Regional Medical Center. Dennis was born May 13, 1941 in Salt Lake City, Utah. For 25 years he hauled groceries as a long-haul trucker throughout the 48 states. In 2003, he moved from Southern California to Cave Junction. He enjoyed team roping, horses, and truck driving. Survivors include his wife, Donna Mickelsen of Cave Junction; four children, James Mickelsen of Las Cruces, New Mexico, Steven Mickelsen of Burney, California, Tamara Mickelsen of Woodcrest, California and Kenneth Mickelsen of Apple Katherine “Kate” Bain Valley, California; a sister, Karen Rieck of Tennessee; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. No services are planned. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements. Heather Lynn Galland, 40 , of Cave Junction died at her home June 9, 2017. Heather was born in Jackson, Wyo., Nov. 28, 1976, to parents Bryce and Janet Galland. She moved to Cave Junction five years ago from Sandy, Ore. Heather spent four years studying to be a pharmacist at Mount Hood College and was a pharmacy technician for Safeway until she became too sick to continue. Heather was preceded in death by her mother Janet Galland and is survived by her father, Bryce Galland; son, Quincy J. Galland; and brother, Corey J. Galland. A private ceremony for family will be held. Charles Nelson Miller, 94, died June 12, 2017 in his home near Cave Junction. Charles was born Texas; his parents, Bert and April 23, 1923 in Oran, Iowa. Bertha of Iowa; two brothers, In 1946 he married Dorothy Edward “Jack” Miller, Marie Clubb. Chuck served Robert Miller, his sister in the U.S. Army during Norma Lucas; his fiancé,’ WWII. He later worked as Dona Mae Venz of Iowa; a Civil Servant for the U.S. and his granddaughter, Tami Air Force as an Airplane Rosson Electrical Mechanic, retiring He will be greatly from Hill Air Force base in missed. Chuck was a hardworking, honest man with a great sense of humor. He is survived by three sons, Robert Miller of Riverside, Calif.; Rocky Miller of Clinton, Utah; Dennis Parker Sr. of Cave Junction, 15 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
