All persons listed are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, March 13 *A chap in the 700 block of Caves Hwy. had a rude awakening when he realized that his green 1996 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck had been removed overnight without his permission. A report was filed for unauthorized use of a vehicle and third-degree theft. *A repo man seized a vehicle from the 200 block of Kerby Street, and a soon- to-be ex-husband blamed his wife for allowing the removal. The tall 63-year-old man wearing a black leather coat and a cowboy hat headed towards Hwy. 199 after causing a disturbance at 9:22 a.m. The ex-wife was advised of her options regarding a restraining order (RO) due to his threatening behavior toward her. *On March 12 at 2:30 p.m., a gal was in her back yard in the 100 block of Kinnikinnick Drive when she heard a volley of gun shots. She yelled that she was in the backyard, and the shooter said, “OK,” then fired off another magazine-worth. Her husband let loose with his shot gun, then phoned 911 because he was concerned that the situation might escalate. (Dueling bullets.) *Lurline Lane was OK at 11:13 a.m. *A deputy investigated in the 600 block of Caves Hwy. at 11:17 a.m. *Surveillance camera footage documented a burglary between 2:35-3 a.m. at the Napa Auto Parts at 327 S. Redwood Hwy. The hooligan was recorded rummaging through a work station, stealing keys for a forklift, a Chevy van, and a Honda Fit. The photogenic fool was also filmed removing cash and deposit envelopes, placing them in a plastic shopping bag, and exiting through a roll-up door. A report was filed for second- degree burglary, first-degree theft, and second-degree criminal mischief. *Law enforcement patrolled the 300 block of Caves Hwy. at 11:51 a.m. *Nothing was happening at Jubilee Park at 11:58 a.m. *The driver of a Honda Civic was warned for speeding and a defective left rear brake light at 12:16 p.m. at the intersection of E. River Street and Laurel Road. *Minutes later at the WHERE’S THE ALARM? The volunteers and staff of the Illinois Valley Fire District same location, a motorist in a white Toyota was warned for speeding at 12:23 p.m. *At 12:56 p.m., it was reported that locks were damaged on a front door and storage unit at 311 S. Redwood Hwy. at 2:29 p.m. *At 2:46 p.m., everything was still calm at Jubilee Park. *A traffic stop at 2:53 p.m. at 24542 Redwood Hwy. ended with citations issued to the driver of a blue Ford. He was not happy when the dispatcher gave him the non- emergency number, and stated that he would find the bike himself. *At 3:27 p.m. a German shepherd fell into water and was dragged to the other bank near the Store Gulch Ranger Station. The canine’s owner was afraid the swift water would sweep him away if he tried to rescue the dog. Helpful suggestions were that he find a shallow, narrow spot so the dog could swim across, or that he rent a raft or Tahiti to retrieve the mutt. Law enforcement did not assist because animals will frequently self-rescue in these situations. *A middle-aged bicyclist had been drinking before he rode his cycle off the side of the shoulder at 18285 Redwood Hwy. at 3:34 p.m. He denied injury or need for medical attention. His bike and groceries were moved from the side of the road until he was steady on his feet. A red Mongoose mountain bike and an attached trailer were also stolen. *Domestic disturbances occurred in the 200 block of Cedar Brook Lane at 7:30 p.m. March 13, and again on March 14.
