Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Sunday, Feb. 26 *At 9:28 a.m. the owner of a business at 110 Deer Creek Road stated that money was taken from a secret hiding place that only her employees knew about. The cash disappeared at the same time a hired hand was given two weeks’ notice. The boss would not let her worker leave the premises because she changed her story several times and was acting guilty. She made her getaway in a U-Haul with some guys who also may have been involved in the burglary. A report was filed after law enforcement caught up with her in the parking lot of Ray’s Food Place. Outside the Valley *A dozen situations. Monday, Feb. 27 *A compassionate em- ployee at Providence Medical Center requested a welfare check on two people living in the 100 block of Warren Road at 9:45 a.m. A woman was recently discharged from the hospital, and her caretaker was struggling. The caller advised that these folks have no family or friends, and that if someone doesn’t intervene, they will lose both. The mat- ter was referred to Depart- ment of Senior Services and logged for information. *At 10:52 a.m., a guy in the 24300 block of Red- wood Hwy. could not get his truck started. Then a ruffian threatened to kill him, pulled out a gun, and busted out the windshield. The grouch then punched the guy in the face, breaking his jaw. After that the bully threw the truck keys into a pond. The difficulties may have stemmed from one guy dating another man’s ex-wife. *Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) checked on a gate and a few cars in the Thompson Creek area at 11:41 a.m. A deputy located a Honda and a Mazda. *There was an investi- gation at Kerby Mart at 12:38 p.m. *A motorist in a two- door tan car was driving recklessly and tailgating at 12:45 p.m. on Redwood Hwy. at Reeves Creek Road. *At 5:42 p.m. a wacko was wailing that he wanted to die, and he punched a hole through the wall in the 100 block of Tracy Lane. He was evicted, but would not leave his residence with his stock- pile of knives, a hatchet, an ax, and a pump-action rifle- type BB gun. He did eventu- ally depart peacefully. They tossed the hot potato back to JCSO for fur- ther review. *A 27-year-old son borrowed a pink three- wheeled bike from his mother in the 200 block of W. River Street, then told her that someone stole it. The tricycle had a plaque decorated with a picture of a ship and possibly the word “Windsor”. The theft was tagged as beyond available resources (BAR) by JCSO. *A restraining order was served to an individual in the 200 block of N. Old Stage Road at 3:29 p.m. Outside the Valley *Twenty-one items. Wednesday, March 1 *The owner of the stolen pink tricycle spotted a dame pedaling her wheels all over town at 10:26 a.m. The trike had been painted maroon and was last seen at a drug house in the Hussey area. *Logging equipment was removed from the 500 block of Glendon Road between Jan. 14 and Feb. 27. Missing items included steel woven cable, cable blocks, tow chains and straps. They may have been erroneously included with the estate of a deceased person. *Aggressive Akitas were attacking pedestrians in the 4200 block of Lakeshore Drive on Feb. 25 between 2-2:30 p.m. Josephine County Animal Control was advised of the situation. *Jubilee Park was OK at 11:28 a.m. *Forks State Park passed inspection at 11:34 a.m. *Siblings were feuding over items left behind at their parents’ residence in the 200 block of O’Brien Road Feb. 28. Although damage was done to a vehicle during the disturbance, the situation was unfounded as a crime, and they will go through the civil process. *A motor home was abandoned near the gas pumps at the O’Brien Coun- try Store at 2:38 p.m. Since it was on private property, the land owner was advised of options i f the RV was stolen. *A 911 hang-up call was received from the Eight Dollar tower at 2:43 p.m. *An abandoned vehicle was retrieved from Bureau of Land Management property on Lone Mountain at 2:52 p.m. *Everything was still fine at Forks State Park at 3:06 p.m. *The driver of a Dodge was warned for driving status and for trespassing up the Powerline Road near the 25600 block of Redwood Hwy. at 4:13 p.m. *The sounds of ex- plosions and firearms were scaring horses and rattling windows in the 100 block of Mesa Verde Drive from noon until 4:29 p.m. *Soon after a deputy left the 25600 block of Redwood Hwy. a blue Ford pickup truck turned up in the same location at 4:35 p.m. Outside the Valley *Twenty-six entries. Thursday, March 2 *Loud explosions rocked a house in the 400 block of Queen of Bronze Road at 1:41 p.m. The oc- cupant assumed the sounds emanated from two mari- juana grows bordering his residence. When he contacted Oregon State Police (OSP), they advised it was BAR. The night before, he saw a red laser dot on his curtain, then heard shots fired. *At 2:28 p.m. an individual was permanently trespassed by management from Taylor’s Sausage Coun- try Store. (Gasp - no more Trailbusters?) *A reckless driver failed to yield to law enforce- ment during a pursuit from Lister Street and Hussey Avenue to Caves Hwy. past Holland Loop at 3:02 p.m. Charges will be filed for elude and unauthorized use of a vehicle. *An intoxicated char- acter with an open container was sitting at the stop light at the intersection of Caves Hwy. and Hwy. 199 at 3:37 p.m. She was yelling and swinging at passersby, be- cause they had the audacity to push the crosswalk button on the light pole. *At 4:25 p.m. an obnoxious chick driving a silver-colored Lexus parked on private property in the 200 block of Schumacher Street. When the property owner told her that he would have her car towed, she threatened to shoot his dog and burn down his house. *A deputy pulled over a vehicle in the 900 block of Caves Hwy. at 4:29 p.m. A motorist in a Toyota 4-Runner was warned for expired reg- istration and failure to carry proof of insurance. *Gun shots were heard at 4:56 p.m. near Hwy. 199 and Lakeshore Drive. *The driver of a black Honda Civic with no front license plate was stopped by a deputy at 5:27 p.m. in the 21000 block of Redwood Hwy. Outside the Valley *Sixteen incidents. Friday, March 3 *At 11:34 a.m. a dam- sel in the 5800 block of Deer Creek Road phoned 911 for advice regarding a domestic situation. When a deputy checked her residence at 1:54 p.m., she had left for a cool- ing off period. She later noti- fied JCSO that she was OK. Blinding wind-driven snow, extreme cold, icy road conditions, downed trees and power lines can all wreak havoc on our daily schedules. Home fires occur more in the winter than in any other season, and heating equipment is involved in one of every six reported home fires, and one in every five home fire deaths.
