Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Monday, Jan. 16 *A snow-bound Mercedes on Eight Dollar Mountain was broken into between Jan. 9-16. At 8:58 a.m. the Mercedes owner notified law enforcement that he located his rack at Ray’s Food Place in Selma. He took photos of his rack, which was mounted on a camo-brown Chevy Blazer that drove away on Lakeshore Drive. The theft case was reopened when the pictures were emailed to the deputy. *At 9:28 a.m., a white Mercury Marquis was blocking Laurel Road near Redwood Hwy. The front end was crashed, and it was missing a back tire. There was a mid-size collie-mix, or maybe pit bull in the car. The registered owner sold the Marquis in October, and had no information regarding the new owner. When Jerry’s Tow Company removed the Mercury, the dog was no longer in the car. *A white Toyota Camry was on a Bureau of Land Management Road, located eight miles up Thompson Creek Road at 10:03 a.m. The registered owner was contacted, and he was aware of the situation. The person who was going to tow it for him was waiting for the snow to melt. *A locked 1999 Ford 250 was removed without permission from the 200 block of Cedar Brook Lane between 3 p.m. on Jan. 15 and 7:30 a.m. on Jan. 16. The lifted truck has a custom paint job, with blue pearl-colored paint on the top and white pearl-colored on the bottom. There were “SRC” stickers in the window. A report was filed for unauthorized use of a vehicle. *There was a Cadillac with a broken window and the hood up near the rock pit on Waldo Road by Rockydale Road at 12:29 p.m. A guy wearing camo and a black hoodie ran off when a passerby drove in. The car belonged to a neighbor who could not get into his driveway, but he was probably not aware that it had been broken into. Missing items included brown Danner boots worth $300, a bright pink C2 taser with a holster, and a wallet with ID. *A stolen truck was reunited with its owner after it was located at 25658 Redwood Hwy., just east of the water treatment plant at WHERE’S THE ALARM? 1:54 p.m. *A deputy checked 214 N. Redwood Hwy. at 3:32 p.m. Outside the Valley *Sixteen incidents. Tuesday, Jan. 17 *A motor vehicle accident with unknown injuries occurred at 9:13 a.m. on S. Redwood Hwy. at W. Watkins Street. *Motion detectors set off an alarm at the Illinois Valley Library at 7:11 p.m. on Jan. 14. A neighbor found the building empty and quiet at 7:30 p.m. and reset the alarm. On Jan. 16, the branch manager discovered that a side window was broken, and the office was ransacked. Blank checks and all the building keys were taken. A report was filed for second- degree burglary, third-degree theft, and second-degree mischief. *On Jan. 12, a customer at a gas station at 112 S. Redwood Hwy. paid for fuel with a counterfeit $20 bill. Law enforcement could not charge the suspect without proof that he knew the bill was phony. The funny money was turned over to the bank. *A vehicle was towed from the 300 block of N. Sawyer Avenue because it was a hazard at 10:25 a.m. A semi-automatic handgun with the serial number ground off was found during an inventory search. *A woman was concerned for the safety of her elderly stepfather in the 100 block of Ollis Road at 10:56 a.m. He told her someone moved in and refused to leave. The stepdaughter stated that his memory was not very good, and he could be confused, so she would continue to try to contact him. *At 11 a.m. a man reported that someone broke into his vehicle in the 9100 block of Caves Hwy. They stole his wallet containing his credit cards, driver’s license, and cash. They also tried to break into his home by breaking his attic access door. *On behalf of the City of Cave Junction, at 12:25 p.m. a deputy cited a water-thief in the 200 block of S. Caves Avenue for unauthorized use of water utilities. *SOS reported an audible alarm in the sanctuary at Fountain of Life Assembly of God Church at 1:27 p.m. The perimeter was secured, and there was no sign of forced entry. *SOS notified a homeowner in the 6100 block of Takilma Road of a motion- detector activation in their kitchen at 1:48 p.m. *A deputy served a restraining order at 2:20 p.m. in the 400 block of Beebe Drive. *At 3:29 p.m., a motorist on Caves Hwy. at Old Stage Road was cited for improper display, driving uninsured, and driving while license suspended. *Crystal Partain was cited for third-degree theft in the 600 block of Frederick Court at 4:09 p.m. *A guy claimed that an anonymous source said his stolen vehicle was in the 3700 block of Dick George Road at 4:01 p.m. Law enforcement did not find his red VW GTI with a black hood. They did notice a small grow site, already starting operations for the new season. *Someone in the 100 block of Warren Road hit the kitchen at 4:20 p.m., per SOS Alarm. *A vehicle was stuck in a ditch in the 5000 block of Takilma Road at 4:22 p.m. It was not a hazard, but would be towed if not removed by 4:30 p.m. on Jan. 18. *A highly-intoxicated guy was falling all over the store at 112 S. Redwood Hwy. at 5 p.m. Then he was slumped over the steering wheel of his red Ford Escape. The day before he nearly hit a child in a crosswalk. The vodka-laced dude said his tent was stolen, and he had no friends or family in the area. He agreed to stay with Thursday 1/19/2017 Responded to these recent Emergency calls Outside the Valley *Thirty situations. Wednesday, Jan. 18 *At 8:53 a.m. a gal was warming up her red 1998 Dodge Cummings pickup truck in her driveway in the 1700 block of White School Road, until a guy drove away with it. She tried to stop him, and he almost hit her. The truck thief left behind a red Murray riding lawn mower with jumper cables still attached. *A guy followed the stolen red Dodge Cummings from the Siskiyou Market towards Fir Drive and N. Old Stage Road, but he had to go to work at 9:27 a.m. He was advised to not do anything that would put himself in danger. *Law enforcement gathered facts at the Illinois Valley Substation at 11:42 a.m. *At 12:37 p.m. a driver in the 25900 block of Redwood Hwy. was cited for operating without privileges, uninsured and failure to signal a right turn. Kudos to the staff at the 76 station for holding his keys until 8 a.m. when he was sober.
