Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Sunday, July 31 *A man died in the 1700 block of Lone Mountain Road on July 26 at 9:45 p.m. The incident occurred after hours for Josephine County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), which delayed the log entry. *CJ City Hall reported a guy camping out in his vehicle on W. Lister Street and S. Kerby Avenue at 10:36 a.m. Law enforcement told him he was in violation of an oc- cupied RV and that he had until the end of the day to move or be towed. *Lake Selmac was serene at 12:24 p.m. *Everything was fine at the Forks State Park at 12:59 p.m. *On July 25, the manager of Speedy Mart responded to an alarm at 3:46 a.m. Upon his arrival, there were no vehicles in the parking lot, but burglars had broken in through the attic, and the cash register was tampered with. Reports were filed for second-degree burglary, sec- ond-degree theft and second-degree criminal mischief. *A car with temporary tags caught the attention of JCSO at 1:20 p.m. on Hwy. 199 near Rough and Ready Creek. The driver was warned for speeding. *At 1:31 p.m. at MP 34 on Hwy. 199, a motorist was cited for violation of driving on a suspended license (DWS), uninsured driving, and violation of the basic rules of the road (VBR). This person was also cited July 2 for DWS. (Two- for-ones don’t work well in traffic court.) *A California driver was warned for speeding on Waldo Road at Suncrest Drive at 2:19 p.m. *Some thief stole a 2008 Baja Scooter between July 28 at 5 p.m. and July 29 at 6 p.m. from the 500 block of Schumacher Street. *Several law enforcement of- ficers were in the Holland Loop area at 3:17 p.m. but everything was fine at that time. *JCSO tried to locate a guy at 4:18 p.m. His truck was parked in the 100 block of Barlow Street, but he had not been there for two weeks. *During a traffic stop at 5:04 p.m. on Illinois River Road at Kerby Flat, the operator of a Chevy pickup truck was cited for DWS violation, and failure to wear a seat belt. He was warned for failure to carry reg- istration or proof of insurance. *At 5:05 p.m. the motorist in a BMW in the True Value parking lot was cited through the CJ Municipal Court for uninsured driving, and warned for illegal display. *A gate in the 7000 block of Rockydale Road was checked at 5:23 p.m. *A warning was doled out to a motorist in a Subaru Outback on Illinois River Road at Kerby Flat at 5:25 p.m. *Photos were taken and tickets dispersed at 5:51 p.m. for those il- legally parked at Diver’s Hole. *A hooligan eluded Oregon State Police (OSP) in the 25600 block of Redwood Hwy. at 6:07 p.m. He was described as 6-foot-2, 165 pounds, and was last seen run- ning southbound from the Cottage Park area towards CJ. Outside the Valley *Twenty-one log items. Monday, Aug. 1 *Everyone was locked out of an office in the 100 block of S. Old Stage Road at 10:03 a.m. They knew a woman was moving out, but no one knew why she would barricade that room. The situation turned out to be a misunderstanding because she wasn’t even in there. There was no disagreement or argument, they were just unable to contact her. *At 10:37 a.m. on Redwood Hwy. at Reeves Creek Road, a motorist with California plates was warned for impeding traffic, failure to maintain lane, and a defective brake light. *Investigation continued at 201 S. Redwood Hwy. at 10:40 a.m. *There was an accident involv- ing three vehicles on Hwy. 199 at Caves Hwy. at 11:56 a.m. *The security guard at Junction Inn trespassed a trouble-maker July 31, but the smart aleck returned at 12:14 p.m. Aug. 1 and said, “Snitch- es need stitches.” The transient with a gray backpack left before law enforcement arrived. *Norbert Emileo Croft, 53, was detained at Josephine County Jail at 1:06 p.m. for a parole board warrant charging parole violation for kidnapping. *A large column of smoke was visible from the I.V. Airport at 12:46 p.m., and located at Waldo Road and Suncrest Drive. No structures were threatened, and resources were mobilized to the half-acre fire on a private timber sale. *In May, a Toyota pickup truck that had California license plates was stolen. A vehicle matching the description was spotted in the 28000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 1:22 p.m., and it was now sporting a shell on the bed and Oregon plates. *Information was obtained from Caves Pharmacy at 2:08 p.m. *Uninsured driving at 213 S. Redwood Hwy. earned a citation to CJ Municipal Court for the owner of a black Ford pickup truck at 2:17 p.m. *A motorist was cautioned re- garding driving without a seat belt at 2:24 p.m. at 112 S. Redwood Hwy. *There were no sounds of a problem from a 911 call at 3:09 p.m. from Caves Avenue at Caves Hwy. *Unwanted guests broke into the Visitor’s Center at 201 Caves Hwy. at 3:21 p.m. There was no suspect information and nothing was stolen; so reports were filed for second-degree burglary and second- degree mischief. *JCSO served a restraining order in the 100 block of Walters Drive at 3:40 p.m. Another was de- livered in the 1600 block of Happy Camp Road at 4:15 p.m. *At 4:27 p.m., an investigation continued into an assault case from July 17 at Jubilee Park. Outside the Valley *Two dozen incidents. Tuesday, Aug. 2 *A maniac was on the loose at 10:35 a.m. in the 400 block of S. Redwood Hwy. The she-devil dam- aged the hood of a car with an ax. She broke out a window in a house, and innocent children sitting on the floor were hit with glass. A report was filed for first-degree criminal mischief, but the loon with anger management issues left no forward- ing address. *An alarm was activated in the 5400 block of Holland Loop at 11:06 a.m., but it was beyond avail- able resources for JCSO. *There was a car fire at the end of Sawyer Avenue at 1:07 p.m., and a suspected arsonist with longer hair and a hat worn backwards was seen fleeing down Powerline Road. The youngsters described two chubby white men wearing dark hats, Vans-type shoes, and carrying dark semi-automatic pistols. (Observant kids – they no- ticed the shoes?) *The owner might be teed off, but the abandoned vehicle on Golf Club Drive was tagged for tow at 2:16 p.m. *There were no details pro- vided regarding an incident in the 23000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 2:18 p.m. *A purple trailer was left in the middle of the roadway on Holland Loop at Dick George Road at 2:19 p.m. *A citation for VBR was writ- ten after a motorist was flying 75 m.p.h. on Holland Loop and Takil- ma Road at 2:40 p.m. *An incident in the 400 block of E. River Street was cleared pend- ing further investigation at 2:57 p.m. *The commander of a red Camaro from California was cited into CJ Municipal Court after using a turn lane to pass another vehicle on Redwood Hwy. at Glendon Road at 4:57 p.m. *A concerned citizen was worried about her 85-year-old neighbor’s safety when she heard her alarm for 10 minutes at 5:38 p.m. She requested a welfare check because she was unable to go to the 100 block of Warren Road by herself.
