Charges can be amended or dismissed.) * * * Monday, April 27 *Indications were that a TV set and an antenna, or one or the other, were taken by someone from the 27000 block of Redwood Hwy. *An alarm accidentally was triggered, apparently by an employee at Sterling Sav- ings Bank in Cave Junction, at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday, April 29 *In Kerby a man re- ported that $13,000 cash in a suitcase was missing, al- though the suitcase was still there. A relative said that the man might have spent it and not remember. A safe might have been involved. *In Downtown Cave Junction, a man said that while sitting on a bench an- other man tried to stab him with a knife. The potential victim stayed on the bench, and no other information was received from the caller. *Whether a runaway juvenile girl would return home to Holland Loop was left up to her, as her mother wanted to see “if she’d do the right thing.” *The estranged husband of a woman in Cave Junction was, she said, giving her un- wanted attention. *Illinois Valley Fire Dis- trict, American Medical Re- sponse and the city deputy responded; and a Mercy Flights helicopter landed on the soccer field at Evergreen Elementary School to trans- port a boy, 13, found uncon- scious on a trail behind the school. He had been drinking, it was reported. The incident was reported near 6:30 p.m. *Vehicular hit-and-run was reported in the 7000 block of Takilma Road. The suspect vehicle was described as a dark blue Ford. *Jubilee Park was checked at 8:40 p.m. *On W. Lister Street a man was dozing in a sleeping bag on a parking lot at 8:53 p.m. He “elected to leave and move along.” Thursday, April 30 *Criminal mischief in the form of tractor work was re- ported on Cowboy Way. *An owner of Abiding in the Vine got to show up at the business following a 2:39 a.m. alarm. It was caused by a display that toppled. *Jubilee Park was pa- trolled at 3:24 p.m., and a well-known street person was contacted. *Theft of a .303 Enfield Elementary Schools Lunch Menu Sponsored by H OMETOWN E INTERIORS 592-2413 THURSDAY, MAY 14 Grilled cheese, chicken nug- gets, pepperoni or veggie pizza, turkey salad sandwich, chicken salad wrap, chef or garden salad. MONDAY, MAY 18 Hot diggity dog, hamburger, breadsticks with marinara, totally turkey sandwich, cleaver club wrap, garden salad. TUESDAY, MAY 19 Totally teriyaki dippers, popcorn chicken, sausage or cheese pizza, super duper sub, crispy chicken wrap, chef or garden salad. WEDNESDAY, MAY 20 Spaghetti with meat sauce, chicken burger, hamburger, tuna torpedo sandwich, it’s Italian wrap, popcorn chicken garden salad. rifle from her closet, possibly by her former boyfriend, was reported by a Selma woman. *In Cave Junction, Patricia C. Downing, 59, was cited into CJ Municipal Court on a charge of driving 55 mph in a 45 mph zone. *Although he apparently suffered a facial laceration in an assault in Cave Junction, the victim didn’t want to pur- sue charges. Friday, May 1 *“Closing error” was listed at Shop Smart Food Warehouse following an au- dible alarm at 1:57 a.m. *A large brown cow was said to be on the roadway near 4800 Dick George Road. No owner was located, and the cow udderly disappeared. *Prescription medicine was reported missing from a man’s car at Jubilee Park. *On Redwood Hwy. at one of the intersections with Draper Valley Road a man was face down and waving his arms and legs. No patient was located, apparently. *Three trucks parked in Selma in the 18000 block, and owned by Trees Inc., were damaged by yokels who broke into them and stole equipment including saws, a leaf blower and climbing gear. A wire cutter was found. *In the 7000 block of Holland Loop there was a landlord/tenant dispute. *Five people in the 900 block of Caves Hwy., includ- ing one with a baseball bat, had an issue about whether their dog had been hit. *Restraining order viola- tion (ROV) was reported in the 30000 block of Redwood Hwy. in connection with re- moval of a motor vehicle. *An RCMP constable asked that an address on Dick George Road be checked, as an abandoned vehicle found at Shawnigan Lake listed the owner as being there. *Someone reported find- ing a safe in grass near mile- post 23 of Redwood Hwy. *Steven M. McMahan, 48, was cited at Caves Hwy./ Holland Loop on a charge of failure to signal for a turn. *Extra patrol was pro- vided in the 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. in Selma at 18 minutes before midnight. Saturday, May 2 *On W. Lister Street a reported intoxicated woman at 2:53 a.m. staggering around and sitting on the street wasn’t too drunk to beat feet when she heard that a deputy was coming. *Jubilee Park was checked at 3:32 a.m., and Illinois River Forks State Park two minutes later. *Stacy M. Byrne, 38, was cited at Caves Hwy./ Holland Loop at 3:48 a.m. on charges of driving uninsured and with expired registration. *The 18000 block of Redwood Hwy. received ex- tra patrol at 4:11 a.m. *A 4:16 a.m. disturbance call on N. Old Stage Road followed a 3:56 a.m. 911 hang-up call involving a man and woman not getting along. *Jubilee Park was checked at 5:43 p.m. *In connection with a disturbance on Dick George Road at 5:49 p.m., a woman was heard to say that if, “he tries to touch me, you can watch someone die.” No crime was noted. *Following a report that a child was being struck with a whip and was screaming in O’Brien, a deputy checked and found all was OK. *Mikael Fahrnkopf, 26, was cited on Takilma Road on a charge of driving under the influence of an intoxicant. *Two people were con- tacted at Selma Post Office at 11:21 p.m. Sunday, May 3 *“Constant shooting,” possibly in an unsafe manner, was reported from Sherier Road by a complainant, who said that she was going to be a good neighbor and talk to the shooters about safety. *A motion detector bur- glar alarm at 2:07 p.m. at I.V. Building Supply probably was caused by a bird. *People on Dick George Road, who apparently can’t get along, caused a distur- bance and deputy response at 2:10 p.m. *On E. River Street a woman said that she found cigarette butts on her front and back porches, and be- lieves they’re from her es- tranged husband. *The boyfriend of an employee threatened him at his business, said a Cave Junction man. The boyfriend was to be warned about criminal trespass. *Two gunshots were reported from School Street in Kerby at 11:03 p.m. Monday, May 4 *Harassment in the form of 10 heavy-breathing tele- phone calls was reported by a woman in the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. She also has the number of the caller. She believes she’s being watched. *“Disturbing messages” from a boy claiming he can’t live without a certain girl were reported at Illinois Val- ley High School. *After a man was acting strangely and made “vulgar sexual comments” toward a woman in Downtown Cave Junction, she said there is a trespass letter on file. *People disagreed about repossessing a tractor in Selma. *Described as a transient shack between the Cave Junc- tion wastewater treatment plant and Millie Street, what- ever it was burned up, follow- ing a 5:29 p.m. alarm. *Country Folks Restau- rant reported that a burglar broke door glass to enter, stole $40, and cooked chicken and french fries. *Two empty, apparently “active” bank bags were found inside a tire on N. Saw- yer Avenue. They were re- turned to the appropriate bank. *A possible “mental sub- ject,” who said she was hav- ing trouble breathing, was aided in the area behind the building that houses Bi-Rite Auto Parts. *Someone tried to steal a bag of potato chips from Sub- way. The man is said to be a frequent problem. *There was a call from a man who was upset because, he said, he left his car at a Cave Junction business a year ago, and the shop owner has not completed the work and won’t tell him what he owes. The complainant said that he was going to “get his car out this week and someone is going to get hurt.” *On E. River Street a woman suspects her es- tranged husband of starting a fire on her front porch while she was away, and added that he might be responsible for a fire where she works. Tuesday, May 5 *Four men were said to be threatening to assault a man at his shop on Caves Concrete Remodel New Construction CCB 174891 592-6609 Hwy. because of a disagree- ment about work on a car. Then “things calmed down.” *A “suspicious incident” possibly involving bogus U.S. Census personnel was re- ported on Little Grayback Road. Extra patrol was re- quested. *Possible ROV was the topic of a call about a man on Hussey Avenue, but it seems that the woman involved asked the fellow over. *A girl, 14, on N. Junc- tion Avenue was reported by her mother as having assaulted her, and pulling her from her wheelchair. The mom added that she was bitten and spat on. The girl said that the as- sault was inadvertent, and that she’s moving away. *“Theft” of an $18,000 tractor reported on Lakeshore Drive turned out to be a case of repossession. *There was a complaint from a woman on Holland Loop about a man not sup- posed to be in contact with minor children, and he denied having such contact. *Some 100 yards off Westside Road a vehicle re- ported stolen from Grants Pass was located. Only it was lacking tires and wheels. *A drunken woman who wouldn’t leave property on Kirkham Road was given a ride to somewhere else. *In Cave Junction, a citation charging minor in possession of alcohol (MIP) was issued to Brandon Kinsey, 15, and he was re- leased to his parents, who had reported him as a runaway juvenile person. Wednesday, May 6 *“Operator error” was logged following an audible alarm in the 6000 block of Holland Loop at 9:07 a.m. *From the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. came a call from a mother reporting that her daughter, 17, left home and might have gone to Nevada with some guy. *There was no evidence of a crime in connection with a call from Holton Creek Road about a man yelling that he was going to beat someone because of a burglary. *No injury to a human and unknown injury to a horse were logged following a report of a motor vehicle vs. horse accident near Lamb’s Body Shop on Rockydale Road. *As he left Shop Smart Food Warehouse with a case of beer he hadn’t paid for, a boy, 15, was stopped by a customer. The store manager wanted the information noted. *A possible “new tran- sient in town” caused a prob- lem at Shop Smart, as he had been “trespassed” the day before, but returned today and locked himself in the rest- room. He might be the same 30-year-old man who was “trespassed” the night before from Subway. *On Palmer Street a girl younger than 18 was tackled and injured by a man. There was yelling and fighting, and he said he was going to burn all her stuff. She’s been stay- ing with him and a woman in rural Cave Junction. The girl’s father was contacted and told he is responsible for her until she’s 18. *Following a 911 hang- up call from Kerby, the caller was found to be a boy, 6. He was playing with the phone. *There was a disturbance at a Cave Junction business, as a man was yelling at an employee and talking about a gun. Then he walked away. *Two girls at Illinois Valley High School were “busted” when found in pos- session of marijuana. They were to be cited on charges of possession of the weed within Page 7 1,000 feet of a school. *A man accused of ROV was cussing at a woman on Hussey Avenue. *Located on Old Stage Road, Gregory Wayne Sam- ply, 56, was arrested and jailed under a felony warrant listing parole violation/ weapons charges. *Items valued at some $500 were reported taken from an unlocked barn after the owner found unauthorized entry on Deer Creek Road. *A man was suspected of stealing a car from Happy Camp Road, but after the car was driven back, the com- plaint was canceled. *Jubilee Park was pa- trolled at 9:48 p.m. *Some sort of situation occurred in the 300 block of S. Caves Avenue involving a report of an underage boy drinking alcohol. He ran. *At 11:41 p.m., a deputy cited and released Jeremiah John Long, 30, outside the SOFCU Community Credit Union building in Cave Junc- tion on a charge of second- degree criminal trespass. Thursday, May 7 *At 13 past midnight near milepost 24 of Redwood Hwy., a Cave Junction man was warned about failure to carry registration and insur- ance proof for the vehicle he was driving. *Three members of a family carried two rifles and a handgun as they chased a possible burglar at 12:20 a.m. in the 5000 block of Lake- shore Drive. *Several people were listed in a referral notice by the Oregon Dept. of Human Services in connection with a juvenile person in rural Cave Junction who recently was issued an MIP citation, and who needed medical attention as his blood-alcohol content was recorded as .389 percent.
