He was warned for expired registration, and his vehicle was impounded. *In Selma a woman was warned for failure to restrain a child passenger. *Genius types removed approximately 24 aluminum seats from bleachers at Ev- ergreen Elementary School. A metal recycling site was to be contacted for suspects. *There was a landlord/ tenant dispute on Pine Cone Drive in which the landlord turned off the water supply. *A Jaguar, a mo- torhome and a van were found down an embankment with their license plates re- moved. The vehicles were on Galice Road between the Rainbow Recreation Site Concrete Remodel New Construction CCB 174891 592-4753 and Morrison’s Lodge, and had been reported stolen. *As a traffic stop was made at Rockydale and Waldo roads at 3:20 p.m., the driver fled. His two pas- sengers stayed, and the driver, known to the sher- iff’s office, was sought for charges of eluding, driving without insurance and DWS. His vehicle was im- pounded. *Upon hearing noises outside a broken door at her home on Hogue Drive at 10:22 p.m., a woman was ready with a hatchet. The scene was found secure. *Illinois River “Forks” State Park was checked at 11:03 a.m., as was Lorna Byrne Middle School at 11:07. By BOB MUSWIECK The 2007 Illinois Valley Junior Golf Program was another success, as 64 young people participated every Thursday for six weeks at I.V. Golf Course. To instruct our Junior Golfers successfully, we divided them into three groups for lessons at differ- ent times. “Safety First” is our motto. And the word, “Fore,” if there is trouble brewing. Steve Lyons, Al Krugh, Wilbur Morton, Todd Heiller and myself in- structed on the driving range. Parish Evans gave a lesson on chipping; and Charlie Stoop and Mark McLean instructed on the putting green. Parents and grandparents helped make this a successful program. (In a surprise presenta- tion during the awards cere- mony, Lyons presented Stoop and Bob Muswieck special certificates recogniz- ing their outstanding volun- teer efforts.) Alexis Clark was medal- ist for ages 5 through 7 with a score of 13 for three holes. Tyrus Tree was medalist for ages 8 through 10 with a score of 25 for five holes. Chase Robbins was medalist for ages 11 through 15 with 60 on nine holes. On Thursday, July 26 we had our annual awards luncheon at the golf course. All our Junior Golfers re- ceived trophies, and we de- voured 20 pizzas from Wild River Brewing & Pizza Co. thanks to Jerry & Bertha Miller. Appreciation also is due I.V.
