Charges can be amended or dismissed.) *** Saturday, June 19 *Unknown jerks (except to God) caused approximately $700 damage to the Illinois Valley High School green- house, a teacher said. Holes were torn in plastic sheeting and nearly 100 tomato starts were destroyed. *Rude and reckless peo- ple in pickup trucks were speeding up and down the bed of Deer Creek, nearly hitting a child and causing disruptions for several neighbors in the vicinity at 5:14 p.m. *Because two unattended juveniles were throwing 2- foot diameter rocks onto his car from a cliff nearby, a man at the green bridge on Eight Dollar Mountain Road fired a pistol loaded with snake shot “close to them” to scare them. The kids yelled, “We’re mi- nors. You can’t shoot us. We’re going to kill you.” Their parents were likewise “murderously threatening.” The man wanted the incident logged. *A witness said that sev- eral young people tried to pull hoses off the pumps at Selma Texaco at 9:43 p.m. The youths then settled for steal- ing ice from the freezer and headed for Grants Pass. Sunday, June 20 *Paddle boats were taken without permission from Lake Selmac Resort, but later returned. *Travis Liles, 21, was cited on a charge of failure to register a vehicle and warned for expired tags and no insur- ance on Illinois River Road. *A deputy contacted a man who had been chasing butterflies and running in and out of traffic in Downtown CJ around 1:30 p.m. *Chelsea N. Wood, 18, was cited on a charge of fail- ure to wear a seatbelt on Illi- nois River Road near Store Gulch at 2:45 p.m. *Patrick H. Hermes, 18, was cited on a charge of mi- nor in possession of alcohol at Store Gulch. *Although a man insisted he took a woman’s wallet to prevent her drinking and driv- ing, he also took $160 from her, which provoked an alter- cation, reported at 8 p.m. They were separated. *A small blue vehicle with California plates, mov- ing at “100 mph or faster,” was seen on Redwood Hwy. near O’Brien Road at 9:53 p.m. Monday, June 21 *The caretaker at Laurel Cemetery thought he saw people and heard voices at 12:53 a.m., but it was a false alarm. *At a logging site on Little Grayback Road, some- one had used a log loader to destroy a fuel truck, dumping nearly 100 gallons of fuel, and causing approximately $5,000 dollars in reported damages as well as stealing a CB radio and RV battery, a logging company employee said at 5:14 a.m. Senior Nutrition Menu Sponsored by (541) 592-2126, 474-5440 Meals are served in the CJ County Bldg. The driver was tracked down and a motor vehicle accident (MVA) report filed. *Concerned about recent break-ins and vandalism, a man requested that five of six people gathered behind a business in the 100 block of S. Redwood Hwy. at 12:54 p.m. be asked to leave. *Some $4,000 worth of tools and a new spa were taken without permission from where he was storing them, a man said. *Teen-aged girls who had been verbally and physi- cally fighting over a former boyfriend raised a ruckus at Jubilee Park around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 22 *After taking swings at people and threatening the manager of Selma Select Market, four men and three woman got in a white truck and possibly went to Six-Mile Campground, the manager said at 6:52 p.m. They also stole ice and a bag of sun- flower seeds. *Stanley E. Hicks, 43, was arrested on a warrant charging failure to appear (FTA) on an original charge of third-degree escape. He was jailed. Friday, June 25 *Robert W Wendover, 26, was cited to appear on two charges of harassment; menacing and fourth-degree assault constituting domestic violence; and, interfering with making a report on W. River Street around 3 a.m. *A man alleged that his ex-wife had forged vehicle titles, preventing him from selling the vehicle. *Because her daughter had threatened her nine times the night before, a woman on S. Old Stage Road wanted extra patrol. *A deputy checked around Caves Mini Mall, but did not locate three men who had been drinking there around 11 a.m. *Sometime during the last three days a handgun was stolen from his home on Lau- rel Road and he believes he may have suspect info, a man said. *Logging equipment was reported damaged in the 12000 block of Illinois River Road. *A 17-year-old person was cited as a minor in pos- session (MIP) of alcohol at Store Gulch. *Although the damage to her vehicle was a minor scratch, which could “easily be removed with wax,” ac- cording to the responding deputy, a woman whose parked car had been “deliberately” struck with the door of another vehicle wanted that driver contacted about his conduct. *No injuries were re- ported in a two-vehicle MVA on Illinois River Road near Six Mile Campground at 5:40 p.m. *A mother on Hayes Cut-Off was advised of op- tions after her son, 17, smashed the window of her vehicle with a rock. *Nobody would fess up to being the operator of a motorcycle which eluded a deputy before being ditched near Kerbyville Ghost town around 9 p.m. *In the 24000 block of Redwood Hwy. at 10:28 p.m., a man wanted it known that people nearby were partying and threatening neighbors. Saturday, June 26 *A man in Kerby said he suspects his neighbor of deal- ing drugs. *A handful of people were contacted at Store Gulch around 3 p.m. *A 19-year-old man was cited on a charge of minor in possession of alcohol on Illi- nois River Road at 4:24 p.m. *On Airport Road near Seats Dam, three men and one woman were contacted at their camp regarding an ille- gal fire. *In Selma a man said he’d been “roughed up” in a motorcycle dispute. *Eric Blair Michaels, 23 was cited on a federal charge of littering near a waterway; Traci R. Wilkinson, 18, was cited on a charge of MIP; and James A. Heinzle, 19, was arrested on a warrant charg- ing a probation violation and lodged in Josephine County Jail after their group was con- tacted near McCaleb Ranch. *Young people in a blue Jeep were impeding traffic on S. Caves Avenue at 8:21 p.m. Sunday, June 27 *Some people left a structure of some kind in an alley in the 100 block of E. River Street. *Because she felt the person who was supposed to be caring for a neighbor’s dog wasn’t doing a good job, a woman on Honeybee Lane took the animal. She was told to give it back. *Phoning for her sons, a woman said the two had got- ten their pickup truck stuck on Illinois River Road at Store Gulch. When a deputy responded to assist, they had already been helped. *A driver on Holton Page 13 Creek Road was warned about allowing an unsecured rider to be on the hood of her vehicle. *On Naue Way, three young men were warned for MIP, and an adult with them warned for furnishing alcohol to minors. *In violation of the 10 mph speed limit on Lake Sel- mac, a man was zipping from end to end on a homemade hovercraft.
