WHEN DO WE HANDWASH? •• Before, during, and after preparing food •• Before eating food •• Before and after caring for someone who is sick •• Before and after treating a cut or wound •• After using the toilet •• After changing diapers or cleaning up a child who has used the toilet •• After blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing •• After touching an animal, animal feed, or animal waste •• After handling pet food or pet treats •• After touching garbage HOW DO WE HANDWASH? Alcohol Based Hand Gel! (Best Option) •• Wet your hands with Alcohol Based Hand Gel •• Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum “Row Row your boat” song from beginning to end twice. Soap & Water! •• Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), and apply soap. •• Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Be sure to lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails. •• Scrub your hands for at least 60 seconds. •• Rinse hands well under clean, running water. •• Dry hands using a clean towel or air dry them. Crooked teeth and teeth that do not fit together correctly are harder to keep clean, are at risk of being lost early due to tooth decay and periodontal disease, and cause extra stress on the chewing muscles. More focus on dental care and oral hygiene is essential more often with orthodontic services such as braces or retainers. We have an approved program that provides orthodontic services to CHS eligible members. We have current resources available to provide additional services to CHS eligible members. Erin Carrington, PA Physician Assistant Erin Carrington graduated from University of Washington School of Medicine in 1999 then spent 2 years at the Galena Health Center in Alaska before joining the Siletz Community Health Clinic in 2002. She first become interested in medicine while serving in the Peace Corps in a K’ekchi’ Mayan Indian community from 1992-1994. Erin was raised on the East Coast coming to the West Coast to attend college. Erin works closely with her patients so they are well informed to make healthy choices. She also has a special interest in women’s health being instrumental in providing pre -natal services to our community. In her free time Erin enjoys running, being outdoors and spending time with her husband, their 7 children and grandchildren. She is preparing to compete in the New York Marathon November 2.
