Foster parents needed for kids with therapeutic needs Maple Star Oregon’s therapeutic foster care department serves youth with emotional, behavioral and/or mental health issues who cannot live with their own families. We have a high need for parents who can work with youth age 10 and older and youth who have current emotional, behavioral and/or mental health issues. We provide free training to ensure that you have the skills to work with the youth placed in our program. Maple Star Oregon truly believes in creating collaborative communities of care throughout the state of Oregon. We support and communicate with our therapeutic foster parents in a profes- sional manner. Maple Star Oregon has personable, educated staff to assist you in navigating the world of therapeutic foster care. We appreciate your dedication to 14 • Siletz News • caring for youth in the community and your efforts will not be overlooked. We work with all different types of therapeutic foster parents – single, mar- ried, employed, not employed, partnered and retired. Our therapeutic foster homes offer a positive, structured family setting for children who cannot live with their own families, temporarily or permanently. Certified therapeutic foster parents with our agency provide all the essentials of a family setting, including positive commu- nication, guidance and support. Providing this care helps youth develop a sense of security, a positive self-image and the necessary skills to function independently and contribute to their community.
