Turn west at the Laundromat on Buford Avenue allnativecreations.com/wordpress nadosh2@yahoo.com or 541-444-1290 Lisa Brown, owner of All Native Creations, is an enrolled member of the Con- federated Tribes of Siletz Indians. Her maternal ancestors are of the Tututni and Macanotin Tribal bands and her paternal ancestors are of the Shasta, Pit River and Modoc Tribal groups in Northern California and Southern Oregon. Brown mentors artists by accepting a minimal commission (15 to 20 percent) on items sold in the shop and at pow-wows (August, November) sponsored by the Siletz Tribe (call for details). Please note the creation of items by the artist is not just a hobby. Traditional skills combined with cultural teachings are used when making items, done in a way that respects the spirit of the things used and honors the person to whom the item will go. All is designed to honor my ancestors and Nadosh (the dance). Elders have shared that when we create items, a part of ourselves or our spirit is in the item. “The elders say to us, ‘How would you like it if you were created and then just hung on a wall to look pretty?’” said Brown. “It is for this reason that I share the importance of taking the necklace out so it will be able to dance and sing, as the sound that the shells make is referred to as ‘singing.’” Please make plans to visit our retail location for more information or for special orders. We are located on the Siletz Indian Reservation.
