2012 Tribal scholarship award recipients announced Arthur Bensell Memorial Scholarship Melissa Bellinger — A junior at California Baptist University majoring in early childhood education who will graduate in the fall of 2014. Siletz Scholarship Karly Law - A student at Oregon Happy 5lh Birthday to my beautiful princess, Hayle Kline. You have grown so fast. Have a wonderful and fun birthday. Jacob Williams - A student at Lane Community College studying human services so he can be a certified substance abuse professional, preferably in the Eugene Area Office. Pepsi - Craig Whitehead Scholarship In 2004, Pepsi dedicated this scholar ship in memory of Craig Whitehead. This year, Pepsi donated enough funding to award seven scholarships at $1,000 each. Lori, his mother, is his most inspirational person because she is strong, intelligent, takes care of those who cannot take care of themselves and can create inspiration from nothing. Jennifer Coleman - A student at the University of Oregon majoring in communication disorders and sciences. Her husband, Gregory Scott, is the most inspirational person in her life because he is a cancer survivor. Throughout this battle, he retained his sharpness of mind, unparalleled work ethic and a positive outlook. He said he would do anything to support her through school. Jennifer Cook - A student at Port land Community College working toward a transfer degree in psychology. She then will transfer to Portland State University. She admires people who are committed to change and she is a huge part of her own inspiration because of what she has overcome to get to this point in her life. Hatch, her grandfather, is her most inspirational person because he had great strength of character and was a skilled craftsman and artist who touched the heart of many. Sage Hatch - A junior at Southern Oregon University majoring in history with a minor in Native American stud ies who plans to be a teacher. His most inspirational person is his great-great-Aunt Lavera “Babe” Simmons, who is a pillar of strength, confidence, pride and kindness. Rosa Hernandez-Chavez - A stu dent at Chemeketa Community College working toward a transfer degree in social sciences. Her Aunt Dawn is the most inspirational person in her life because she has been her faithful guide and leader since she was very young. Kassandra Rilatos - A full-time student at Oregon Coast Community College this fall who initially attended OCCC as a senior at Siletz Valley Early College Academy during all three terms of the 2011-12 academic year.
