CEDARR Happenings: Share your ideas with group at monthly meeting By Cyndee Druba, SPF Coordinator CEDARR is a group of community members and professionals from our area who meet regularly to discuss local issues and concerns about the abuse of alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, which can lead to violence, delinquency and a host of other problems for local families. The primary focus is toward the youth in our community. We want to develop a safe, healthy and substance-free com munity for them to live and grow up in. It’s so easy for members of our com munity to focus on the problems. We can sit back in our homes, discuss these issues and say “Why is this happening?” “Why isn't anyone doing anything?” “They need to do this” or “They need to change that.” My point is that we all have an opinion about what needs to be done, what might be done, maybe this would work or maybe that. Each and every one of you has great ideas and we would like you to share them. We have all heard “It takes a village to raise a child.” That statement is so true. We as caring and loving people need to help direct our children, to give them purpose and teach them culture. When attendees of our meetings gather to discuss these community issues, we do not place our focus on the negative. We discuss solutions to these issues and CEDARR place our focus on the positive qualities of our children and our community and also how can we enhance these qualities to include all of our youth. It would be awesome to see you at our next CEDARR meeting on Feb.l at the Siletz Public Library. 255 SE Gaither in Siletz. Some ideas discussed at our last meet ing include: If you would like be part of this move ment toward healthier lifestyles for our community members and cannot attend a meeting, we still need your opinions.
