Blair Showcases Humor Developed Two Country Legends Create Two on Tour with Dangerfield, Carlin Unforgettable Shows for Anniversary Dennis Blair headlines Comedy on the Coast at Chinook Winds Casino Re sort on June 11-12. Joining him in this weekend of laughs are Joe Charles and Drew Barth. Early in his career, Rodney Danger- field made Blair his protégé and together they toured the United States and Canada tor more than three years. Blair conceived and co-wrote Dangerfield's hit movie Easy Money and also played two cameo roles. He co-wrote and was a featured actor in two Dangerfield specials on ABC and was creative consultant for the album Rappin' Rodney. The title song (which he co-wrote) Dennis Blair was nominated for a Grammy Award. Blair’s post-Dangerfield career has seen him opening for a multitude of celebrities, such as Tom Jones, The Beach Boys, Garry Shandling, Joan Rivers, Gloria Estefan, Jackie Mason and George Carlin, with whom he toured for more than 18 years. He has appeared on The Tonight Show several times. Charles is a former Marine turned professional standup comedian from Southern California. His comedy comes from his crazy childhood, difficulty with relationships, the military experience, alcohol adventures, everyday hypocrisy and whatever other weird stuff that leaks into his brain. Charles has performed in venues across the country, including Stand-Up New York, The Columbus Funny Bone, Houston s The Comedy Showcase and San Diego’s The Comedy Palace. Barth was bom just outside of Seattle and what started as a dare in high school has become a full-time career. He has risen through the ranks of local open mics to become a regular performer at comedy clubs, colleges, casinos and private events up and down the West Coast. His easily relatable nature coupled with a smart and clean sense of humor make for a show that audiences of all ages can enjoy. Show time is 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. In celebration of Chinook Winds Casino Resort's 15,h Anniver sary weekend, country music luminaries Dwight Yoakam (right) and Mer le Haggard (above) are set to perform two great shows in the Chinook Winds showroom on June 18-19. See additional anni versary weekend details on page 22. Battle at the Beach Boxing Returns Chinook Winds Casino Resort presents Battle at the Beach, Olympic-style amateur boxing, on June 5. This amateur event is sanctioned by USA Boxing, the national governing body for all amateur boxing in the United States. Battle at the Beach helps establish senior youth boxing records for consideration as Olympic contenders. This event is for the entire family. The fight card will include six to eight amateur bouts. These bouts will include some Golden Glove and Junior Olympic champions from the Pacific Northwest. Chinook Winds is one of the top amateur boxing venues of choice in the Pacific Northwest. Local radio personality Roger Robertson will be the ring announcer for this night of excitement featuring up-and-coming Northwest amateur boxers. Tickets are affordably priced at $10 for general admission and $20 for ringside seats or $25 for a family four-pack. A beer garden will be open to those age 21 and older.
