TRIBAL PROGRAM NEWS Tribal Court News from the office of Tribal Court Attention Tribal Spokespersons On March 10 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Siletz Tribal Court will sponsor a train ing for spokespersons and the public is invited to attend. The training will take place at Siletz Tribal Council Chambers/Courtroom, located upstairs in the tribal adminis tration building. The topic for the evening will be the Eviction Procedure and will include an overview of the Housing Ordinance pertaining to eviction and Tribal Court procedure for evictions. Automatically, their names will be added to the mailing list for the elders newsletter. In addition, the monthly sti pend paid to all elders will begin the month following the tribal member’s 55th birthday. The Elders’ Council is all tribal members age 55 and older, and at the monthly meeting, elected offic ers are present to organize, represent and advocate for the elders as a whole. It’s very important to read the elders newsletter because that is where you will find the announcements for the upcoming trips and activities. The sign up sheets are opened at the monthly elders meetings and then those unable to attend the meeting can call the of fice the next business day after the meeting. The Rules of Procedure the Elders’ Council approved states that you must sign up for trips and activi- ties yourself either at the meeting or by calling in; someone else cannot do it for you. The Elders News is mailed out at the beginning of each month to all el ders, currently 504 tribal elders nation wide and 36 more by the end of 2008. You can request to be added to the elders e-mail group by sending me an e-mail request at angelar@ctsi.nsn.us. Past newsletters and other elder ser vices information also can be found on the tribe’s Web site at www.ctsi.nsn.us/ Elder_Services.html. Mark it as a favor ite so you can find it when needed. In addition, reminders and announce ments are sent out if you give us your e-mail address. E-mail addresses are private and not shared with anyone else. On the trips the elders take as a group, the Elders’ Council (different than Tribal Council) budget pays the cost of lodging, provides a per diem for meals and can provide transporta tion from each of the four areas as space permits. Spouses and caregivers are wel come to attend these events, just be sure to write their name down at the time you sign up to arrange for the proper lodging and transport if needed. the trainer. Submitting your questions in writing to the court office prior to the training would be helpful for the judge to be able to answer more questions. To plan adequately for the training, court staff needs to know how many people to expect. Nesika Illahee Pow-Wow__ Royalty Crown Proposals Due The Pow-Wow Committee is now accepting proposals for the 2008-2009 Royalty Crowns, which are for Miss Siletz, Jr. Miss Siletz and Little Miss Siletz. All entries must be submitted with a proposed design, including color scheme, size of crown(s), size of beads and total cost. You can submit a proposal for as many crowns as you would like and they must be received no later than March 28, 2008. You can send proposals to: Siletz Pow-Wow Committee P.O.
