Jessica and Kelsie American Indian Entrepreneurs to Gather for Business Development PORTLAND, Ore. - On April 15-16. 2008, American Indian entrepreneurs, small business owners, tribal leaders and others interested in American Indian business development will gather for ONABEN’s Trading at the River Confer ence & Trade Show. ONABEN views Trading at the River as a venue to empower Native entre preneurs'. Past participants have confirmed this over and over again through both written and verbal feedback: “Excellent cultural reflection of the tradition of trade” and “The most progressive conference in the country.” The theme of Trading at the River 2008 is honoring Native women business owners and leaders. Our keynote speakers will be Monica and Marina Simeon, owners of the successful bath and body care business Sister Sky. ONABEN also will use this event to launch our new business plan competi tion for Native entrepreneurs, providing aspiring and growing business owners with much-needed seed equity. A Trade Show hosted by the Oregon Native American Chamber of Com merce will run concurrent to the conference and is free. The public is invited to meet and support local Native businesses. Independent Native artists, such as Adrian Larvie and Lillian Pitt, to tribal enterprises like Eagle Tech Systems, Inc. were in attendance last year.
