TRIBAL PROGRAM NEWS Siletz NARCH Research Project Attains Authorization hy Claire Wood, NARCH Data Coordinator The Siletz NARCH Researeh Proj ect has received its certificate of con- fidentiality from the National Institutes of Health and we have begun our mailings. We have mailed consent forms to I,()()() randomly selected adult tribal members. If you receive a consent form and wish to take part in the NARCH survey, please mail the yellow copy of the form back before May 19, 2006. You then will receive the survey to be completed by June 16, 2006. Applications are due no later than J une 20, 2006 Pre-registration is required for participating in this year's Culture Camp ' You can attend classes only if you register This is a day camp only, unless you are traveling from the Eugene, Salem, or Portland areas. Parent/Guardians are welcome to attend and are responsible for dropping off and picking up children at appropriate times. Children age 10 or younger must be accompanied by an adult. Deadline to submit artwork is June 1, 2006. Artwork can be submitted on 8'/2 ” x 11” paper and sent to Cultural Programs, P.O. Box 549, Siletz, OR 97380-0549. Culture Camp is for Siletz Tribal members only. The camp is intended for tribal families and children under age 10 must be chaperoned at all times by an adult. Activities Camp planning meetings are under way. Suggested activities are basket weaving, hand drum-making demon stration, shell necklace making, bead working, moccasin making, language classes, traditional foods preparation, nature walks and exercise challenge, flintknapping, storytelling, and recre ational activities. Classes will be pre-scheduled based on your selection. Please select the five classes you are interested in from Camping the following. Prioritize your selections by using I, 2, 3, 4, and 5. Overnight campers should bring tents, sleeping bags, toiletries, etc. Campers can arrive on July 17, however, meals are not provided on this day.
