TRIBAL MEMBER NEWS SVS Names Honor Roll Students for Second Quarter We would like to congratulate all of our students at Siletz Valley School as they try very hard to reach good grades. We had a great second quarter that ended Jan. 27, 2006. As an incentive for those who reached a 3.5 GPA or higher, we had drawings for three backpacks full of school supplies that were donated by Emma’s Project. Those students whose names were not selected received cray ons, markers, or calculators. The following students at Siletz Valley School were named to the first quarter 2005-2006 Honor Roll. We did not have students of the month in December because it was a short month. Students in grades K-8 are recog nized for citizenship and academic achievements based on performance. As a reward, we have drawings for various items our local community ven dors give us for the students. Please thank Noel’s Market, Little Chief, and Siletz Gas & Mini-Market for their donations. In December, we had 57 vol unteers who worked 141 hours. In January, we had 71 volunteers who worked 135 hours. Thank you to all of you who con tinue to give your time and love to our school and students. Oregon State Wrestling Championships With love from your family Logan Butler wrestled hard at the 2(X)6 state wrestling championships. He com peted against some of the best wrestlers in his bracket, even with a sprained thumb. We re proud of all your hard work this year, Logan, and you had a great season. Can’t wait to see you out there next year! Oregon State Wrestling Championships With love from your family Chris Garza came in fifth place at the 2006 state wrestling championships in Hillsboro, Ore. He competed against some of the best wrestlers in Oregon. There were a lot of tears and a lot of 8 • Siletz News • smiles by both wrestlers and parents. Chris, we’re proud of you and all your hard work this year. Good luck next year in making your way higher up on that podium!
