This does not mean we need to run around looking over our shoulder. If we do not use our money wisely, others will gladly use it unwisely. Complexity is not always the answer. An efficiency expert looks for productiv ity with appropriate checks and balances that have no conflict of interest to restrict the flow. Conflicts of interest muddy the wa ters and often throw up smoke screens. Unfortunately, those who try to be at all places can take on the resemblance like that of a dog running in a circle while chasing its tail. I feel ourTribal Council needs to be well- defined, with balanced responsibilities. I feel our council needs to fill their positions independently, productively while working as team players for a greater cause. I believe we are pulling at odd ends and the old divide and conquer is slow ing us down. We have so much we need to accomplish and we don't have another generation to waste. It is easy to sit back and criticize; this is not my intent. I have great respect for those who put themselves out there on the line. It is my responsibility as a tribal mem ber to add, not distract. If I have issues, conduct myself properly, address these issues where appropriate, follow through, and move on. Voting is a positive step in the right direction. Want a voice, vote. Respectfully, Eva E. Clayton Don’t forget Valentine’s Day on Feb. 14!
