Unfortunately, after we placed our first order we discovered that Lakota - without our prior knowl edge or approval - substituted what we considered to be inferior computers. After several weeks of discussion with Lakota staff members, we were un able to reach an agreement and have ter minated the contract with them. Currently, we are working with tribal members who received computers from Lakota to get them returned. Once they are returned, we are ordering new computers for those eligible tribal members. Tribal Council approved awarding the contract to our second-place bidder - Gateway Computers. Gateway agreed to honor its original bid from several months ago and we already have placed our first order. As you may recall, we ordered from Gateway the previous three years and we are pleased to be working with this com pany again. It has provided excellent service to us in the past. Tech support is available 24/7: 1-800-846-2303 Is Your Computer Slowing Down? by Tina Retasket If you find your computer slowing down, there can be many causes. The first thing you should do is call Gateway Tech nical Support for assistance. If you (or your friends, family, children, etc.) download games, music, or pro grams onto your computer, the operating system may become slow. Here are some things you can do at home that might help: Defragment - When you add and delete files, gaps are created by your com puter files. To help the operating system work more smoothly and quickly, you should defragment the files. This causes the gaps to be filled in and more memory to be available to you. You can perform this maintenance task by going to the fol lowing - Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools. Temporary Files - When working on your computer and when downloading information from the Internet, your com puter automatically creates temporary files. These temporary files do not go away once you have finished with the file or saved it permanently, and take up valu able space on your computer. You can delete these temporary files by looking under “My Computer” on your desktop and clicking on Control Panel, Internet Options, Delete Cookies and Delete Temporary Files. Upgrade Memory - Computers over the years have developed and increased their capacity. Older computers (from 2002 and 2003), however, may be due for a memory upgrade. Debbie was nominated by Sue Langstaff, who wrote: “This year I have undergone major illness. Debbie was there for me each and every day. OR 973X0-0549 questions, reminded me of dates, came by to see me, and worked with the vari ous people towards my well-being. Many of the things Debbie had done were above and beyond her job duties, taking personal time to stop by, to e-mail a funny joke or touching story, or offering a kind word."
